Hey everybody, I'm from Melbounre and I'm really interested in drains and abandonments (and most urbex to be honest). I've been interested for ages and explored a bunch of abandoned buildings in the country before moving to Melbourne a few years ago. I adore the history associated with hidden places like drains and abandoned buildings, as well as the sense of exploration.
I'm a uni student, so time is pretty limited, but I've gotten around to exploring a few drains recently with some buddies and had a great time! We spent a day exploring the maze system which was honestly amazing and got me even more into it. I'm joining this forum because I really enjoy reading about other people's experiences and would love to meet likeminded people.
So yeah, thats me, hi!

How good is Maze? Every time I go there's always a little more I find.

Which Uni?

Yeah, maze is great! We spent a whole day there and I reckon we were lucky to see half of it (We did make it all the way to the upstream entrance though!). I'm at melbourne uni by the way.
I'd love to meet up sometime Sylar, I'll chuck you a pm once I've made enough posts to do so.

Camberwell Junction gutter box is well worth the walk up to it. (right arm of Maze). Gets a bit stoopy towards the end but well worth it. Easily one of the best gutterbox views you'll find in Melbourne. Has an upstream entrance into it if you fancy a 630m crawl pipe, my knees can attest to it not being recommended unless you have a skateboard.
Wander often. Wonder always.

Something you'll learn is to never trust anyone who says "It's a little bit of a stoop" etc, or you'll end up with permanent back problems.

I'd also recommend Dungeon if you liked Maze.

Melbourne Uni has Catacombs under Trinity College, but I believe they were sealed up a hundred years ago...

Next time I get the chance to head back to Maze I'll definitely take a look! I reckon I can handle the stoop (famous last words?). There was definitely a fair bit of stoop and even a bit of crawling near the end of the left arm of Maze.

I'll definitely have to get around to Dungeon sometime soon, I've heard its pretty fantastic and is really intricate in a similar way to Maze.

I'd never heard about the catacombs before, but thats fascinating! I didn't even know there'd ever been catacombs in Australia, let alone somewhere I go past every day on the tram. I did a little bit of reading and found vague mentions of them on wikipedia and a few other places but unfortunately not much historical information. It might be a bit of a stretch, but you wouldn't have any more info or historical resources on them would you? (If they were sealed up that long ago more just for curiosities sake rather than to try to explore them).

The gutterbox arm of maze is only doable in a crawl. It's a pretty long way too so be warned and wear clothes you can get wet and dirty ahaha
