Just want something that has a rain jacket, can carry a tripod, easy to get the camera out and has storage for other small tech related items.
Ended up getting this http://store.lowepro.com/photo-hatchback-16l-aw. Image

Waterproof jacket, camera compartment removable (has handles, can close etc), chest straps so I can stop getting sore carrying s*** around all day, fits tablet and all the tech crap I usually lug about.

Lol, the logo covers half the bloody backpack lol. Theft target. (If you care about that kind of thing or if you plan to travel in Europe any time soon.)

I might have to get one of those too. My backpack is falling apart, with holes in it from scratching it against the roof of drains, plus I have to dig for both my camera and any little tech things I need (remote shutter, batteries, etc.). The one pictured looks pretty sturdy and comfortable too. The price isn't too bad either, all things considered

Its a faded logo but it'll probably wear off pretty quick if I keep putting my bag flat down on the ground to retrieve the camera, though no camera bags are really stealth if you know what you're looking for.

Yep got mine from JB HIFI, work gave me a $25 voucher which made it more of an attractive purchase.

Most commoners know Lowepro, not as many know Billingham or Domke. Those bags are also quite sexy. :D But yeah point taken.

Anyone seen the Lowepro ProTactic 350AW? Checked it out at jb hifi the other day, pretty expensive but seems great. Felt comfortable, easy side camera access, tripod holder and heaps of little loops to attach stuff (although it would look a bit odd to walk around the city with torches hanging off your backpack). Feels sturdy too. Hopefully if I get my camera at jb hifi they can give me a good deal.

Last time I bought a camera from JB HiFi it came with a 20% off Lowepro coupon on the receipt... maybe ask before you buy :P

Also came with a 20% off Lexar SDCard coupon... just FYI if you buy one with the camera purchase.

Thanks for the info :) Yeah I reckon getting a camera as well as a 35mm lens they'd give me a deal.

Anyone have any of the LowePro Flipside series? I'm tossing up between the 300 or the 400aw. Any opinions would be cool.

Pockets.

I don't like backpacks. They're heavy, get caught on things, sink...

i have something like this LOWEPRO Toploader Zoom 55AW and Lowepro Adventura 160... just small enough to throw in a backpack... but have outgrown them due to a new lens. now buying individual lens cases and to throw in. another option is pack inserts.

They're great for dumping multitudes of urbex crap in it though. :D Also the weight is centered nicely for awkward fence hopping.

If its a short explore, just a Fanny pack with a small torch and headlamp with spare batteries, water, a snack (muesli bar or fruit etc.)

For a longer expo, I usually bring my Kathmandu Cotinga 25L daypack but with more food and water, a couple of torches and a headlamp, spare socks if im underground, jacket and a bit of first aid stuff.

Depends what I am going in, if it is larger drain I'll just take my backpack with my torch, spare batts and some water.
If it is a smaller drain I'll just take a coles bag with the same stuff, gets really annoying having your backpack scrape along the top of the drain.

*edit*

Now I just store everything in my pockets (I bought a smaller torch), with the exception of my tripod which stays in it's carry bag which goes on my back.

i just use a backpack with camera insert, as of yet i haven't found a need for a quick access pouch as urbex is mostly landscapes or portraits style photography.

Also I couldn't find a camera backpack that looked inconspicuous enough, they're all specialized for cameras and don't really have appropriate storage for everything else you may need to bring.

Cameras, torches, whatever you bring. How do you carry around stuff? I'm looking for something to carry camera and urbex equipment, padding would be preferred.
I just use a backpack. used a duffel while doing deepthroat, worst backpain of my life, shoulda just left it halfway through. cargo pants help for smaller stuff
urbex and flossing are the keys to a happy life
