Hi,
I used to do a bit of exploring, but I haven't done it in Canberra for years now. I went into a couple of abandoned buildings in Sydney last year and rediscovered my interest in it.
My problem is I don't know anyone who does this in Canberra anymore.
So if you're keen to meet up and go exploring, let me know by PM.
I'm interested in writing a story about it, too. I'm only interested in doing a profile of the hobby and some of the people who do it locally - I'm not into questioning whether urbex is good or bad.. I want to go into some drains and/or abandoned structures with them and take some photos.
People's identities can be concealed if they want.
Thank you!
Scarecrow in Sydney is getting some Canberian explorers together.
Shoot him an email via sydney at cave clan.org
The Canberra diversion is not hooked up correctly at the moment.
Cheers,
Doug
I go there reguarly because there's work there. The probelm with Canberra UE is there's not many abandonments, and about 90% of the drains are crap 6 foot RCPs. There is maybe 3 drains worth exploring more than once there. So yeah, people loose interest in exploring there.
Yeah it's a bit like that.. that's why I stopped doing it really.. all the good places were done
I have actually had some contact with Scarecrow, who said the local members are 'probationary' and therefore he wouldn't give me their contact details as cave clan members.
But I'm sure the cave clan doesn't control their lives and if they want to meet me the world wouldn't cave in. I mean, there's no need to keep me everyone in the dark. I think it would make an interesting story because it's so underground.
But seriously all puns aside, I could just as easily give up and can the whole thing because I know it's not a big scene here... but there's not much that is! Four dudes betting on who can spit the furthest is an illegal gambling den in Canberra!
