hey guys, I'm Jordan

I'm not gonna lie, I have pretty much no (Read: none) experience in this field, but I'm really keen to get started cause it seems like it could be really enjoyable. A group of guys I know are fairly into this, and I was planning on starting with the Fortress alongside them for my first time... I live on the North shore of Sydney and was wondering if there are any good places around there to get started. Also, was wondering if anyone knows anything about the outlet pipe on North Curl Curl and if that leads anywhere. Any advice for a newcomer?

Much appreciated fellas :)

Welcome to the forum, Jordan.

The best way to start here is just get involved.
Go exploring (often!), document/photograph your stuff, attend meets etc.

The north shore is a brilliant place to poke around.
And that outlet? Check it out, and take pics!

Cheers.

Welcome Jordan. Out of interest, what sparked your interest in this? Did your friends show you pictures? I'm pretty keen on checking out Fortress too but from what it sounds like, it's much harder to get in than it used to be.

Welcome!

I'm also from the north shore too. A good starting point is searching via google and flickr. There are a few flickr groups on urbex in the links section.
Just a harmless explorer. No need to waste taxes checking me ;)

Welcome! To get started, just jump into anything that seems interesting and ignore the trespassing signs.

I wouldn't advise for a beginner to go straight to Fortress, but there are some pretty good drains up your way. There's the Batcave and Extension underneath Warringah Mall, Greendale Creek drain, and if you go to the southern end of Collaroy beach there's a drain which extends out into the water, and goes up under Collaroy St. Don't get stuck in there when the tide comes up though!
