>2012 Clannies LFF Show - 5 minute clip from Blacklodge, Hijynx & Scarecrow's footage<

The best of the night is towards the end of the clip so if you watch it check it all out ;)

Also -
Due to a change in Cave Clan policy I am limited to what clips I can show (and fair enough too).
It means that more of them will have faces blurred out IF they can be posted in the first place.
Here are the few that I can play from the 2013 25th Annual Clannie Awards. As usual they are quite in-house, however the Kodak Moment has a photo or two that may be of interest and if you want to see some fireworks going off in a drain (including one exploding as the dude was letting them off) then this one is definitely worth a look ;)

2013 Clannies Fireworks
As insane in the drain as ever – DO NOT TRY THIS AT YOUR LOCAL DRAIN!!!

2013 Big Drain Posse Tribute
A tribute to Cave Clan members that have shuffled off to the big drain in the sky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WSCJ_OhObI

The Kodak Moment
An award for the photo that captures a moment in the time of the Clan (not necessarily an artistic shot)

I suppose I should warn that the Fireworks clip contains the F word 5 times and 1 C-bomb.

Yes, but if I told you their names they would then have to kill me.

I did hear that Sydney's main source of new members was UEGA :)

To be honest, it's getting harder to join the Sydney Cave Clan (and other parts of the Clan as well).

It's a lot harder for a total newbie to join so the reason some members from here have joined the Clan is that they are already doing stuff on here so by the time they contact the Clan they already understand the general urbex etiquette.

The problem is that as the Cave Clan is quite active and also a very social thing (once you are in), many people that join the Clan from other groups or forums tend not to visit the original group or Forum as often, however, as it is tougher to get into the Clan, places like UEGA.net are important parts of the Australian UE scene.

I don't know how the Admin's think they are going, but in my opinion, it's a lot harder to start a group in Australia because the scene is so well established.

I could also pre-empt what some of you are going to say...

"I was in the Clan and they did this and that to me..." - The fact is that the Clan is a different thing compared to 5 or 10 years a go - The half a dozen people that have been kicked out would not have even got in in the first place nowadays.

"I like to explore on my own with no rules" - This is great. I love bumping into explorers that aren't in the Clan. The reason we have rules is that the group became so big that it just had to have rules - as much as it bites :)

"Cave Clan don't do stuff anymore" - You're either someone in the Clan trying to help your branch lay low, or it confirms that the Cave Clan is winning the lying-low battle... some parts of the Clan don't want you to know they are doing stuff (I will get a finger chopped off for telling you that).

"Cave Clan bully people out of exploring" - There's been one or two people say this over the years. The fact is that usually there will be a group of 4 or 5 people. 1 or 2 are usually crazy into it while the others will get over it after a while. They get involved with the Clan where there are heaps of people that are into it. So it looks like the Clan split the group - maybe it did, but it was never a plan.

"The Cave Clan are a bunch of beer-swelling yobs" - a lot of the stuff you might see in my videos happen at Clan functions and the like, but keep in mind that with the exception of a ten week break over winter in some states (and even then people are still checking stuff out), there are usually a minimum of 5 Cave Clan expos each weekend. Some people drink but there are plenty of expos were people don't or can't.

With a group the size of the Cave Clan, it's so easy to grab a single bit of it and make out that the whole group is like that.

I hope UEGA goes on and becomes part of Australia's UE history and not fold like the 50 or so groups and online forums that have already done so, because we need more diversity.

Cheers,

Doug

Well I get regular hits to my site from the cave clan forums, and yet when I email to meet up with CC I get no response. Seems a bit weird to me...

Keep in mind that I live 150Ks out of Melbourne and only go to a few things a year with the Clan so I wouldn't know why (I have no control on the way things are run) other than having a whinge every now and then).

I'll shoot you a PM.

Cheers,

Doug

I had a response about 6ish weeks ago saying that there would be a meet up soon but nothing since.

I sent another email 2 days after the original which didn't have my name in the email. I got a bit more conscious of security as some people frown on me exploring a tunnel that my money helped fund. I didnt get a reply for that one.

I think they are very lax in responding to emails rather than being overly selective.

It could be either - time is an issue, but then if they found out that someone that was making an enquiry was a vandal, underage, gave away locations online, etc... then they may not hear back from the Clan (I used to let everyone know whether they would be let in or not, but it used to be a few people a month, not like nowadays where it's a daily thing).

Not that it's an excuse, but some people picture a company with a team of staff working on enquiries.
The truth is 95% of the people in Clan are just like you and want to explore stuff, not a group of customer service staff waiting to answer your enquiry :)

Problem is, the person or two that handle your state's enquiries go away for a few weeks... things just stop - we don't call in a temp from an agency.

Without going too much into it, I can tell you that the main three branches (Melb, Syd & Bris) have all had issues over the last 12 months with newbies. Adelaide, Canberra, Tassie & Perth are fairly quiet at the moment although Perth and Canberra has some fresh blood of recent times.

Which state are you in?

Shoot me a PM and I'll follow it up for you (while I have some spare time).

Cheers,

Doug

Another problem that people come across is emails getting lost in people's junk mail boxes (at either end).
