Well had the chance to venture down to Melbourne in January, Always enjoy a trip down south.
Done a heap of walking around the place and although nothing out of the ordinary we did find some interseting buildings that are on the general tourist list.

The old jail was pretty cool, A definate feel to the place that reeked use and abuse.
If down that way worth a look.

This is were they used to hang people, 2 at a time I think was possible.

The old courthouse as well was worth a quick look, Thats me actually in the judges outfit acting out Ned Kelly's trial. I really just wanted to see what it was like to sit up there.

Image

Cooks cottage as well was not something you have to see but interesting none the less.

The conservitorium was also in the treasury park.
Building was cool but inside was for the ladies, full of flowers.

I am positive there would have been much more off the map stuff to see but next time I hope to be more prepared :D

Thanks for sharing :) Great pics.

Speaking of Jails, i had a chance (no phones were allowed in though for obvious reasons) to venture around Silverwater jail in Sydney in the female section. It was locked off as they were putting up new fences (hence why i was there). The feeling is on the dot, the place must soak it in or an emotional shadow.. not sure lol. It was years and years ago though.

Yeah, i know what you mean.
Jails are dodgy at the best of times. I really couldn't imagine working there full time.
Be great to look around some newer buildings.

I am sure there was another jail I seen that was closed down as we drove to Melbourne. A big dark stone job. Wish I knew what it was now.

Last i heard correction officers get something around the mid $40 per hour mark... could be wrong though. But then again, knowing that you can get stabbed any day the $40 per hour starts to look like peanuts.

They deserve every cent,
couldn't pay me enough to deal with the scum of the earth.
Well maybe Im to judgemental and would make an asshole of a prison officer.
I still believe in capital punishment in certain situations but understand the reasons others don't, each to there own.

My brother and his mates explored HM pentridge prison before they tore it down and built houses on top of it. They got into the medical ward, apparently the large metal doors throughout the place were slamming on their own, they're very heavy so they thought something other than the wind was causing it. And they went into a room right in the very back corner which was pitch black and challenged each other to stand in there for more than 10 seconds at a time, none of them could do it without running back out, they all claim to have felt a "presence".

I'm pretty sure it was Pentridge Prison that you drove past.

I'm ashamed to admit, but I had the chance to see it before demo, but I was a fat, lazy, uninterested turd. :(

you still seem disinterested, especially considering parts of Pentridge still stand and are explorable
