Hey Guys!

I cam across UE last week when exploring 'the dungeon'. I had no idea it was called that at the time or that there was such a huge community built around UE but a couple of hours of research changed that. I've attached an Image of my first trek down there with 2 other mates. As soon as I got out I just wanted to go back in and for the past couple of days it's all I'm thinking about. After researching a bit I realised that the location we explored was one of the more popular ones in Melbourne and apparently one of the best Drains around. I've been driving past the entrance since I was about 3 and always wondered what was down there and boy I'm glad curiosity got the best of me. The one thing that I really liked was the fact that as we went on the graffiti died down and got to the point where there was none at all. Drifting further from humanity in another world beneath our feat. I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you people and sharing cool experiences with you.

Cheers.

P.s is it normal to walk down the street and constantly be on the search for manholes/openings? I've found myself doing this without even thinking about it.

Welcome :)
I don't know if it's normal, but I look down every grille I walk past whether I'm with friends or work colleagues :S

Every grille/manhole is a question mark.

Cough.

Less accurate since they moved part of it up for the level crossing removal, but there's now a long retarding section running under the length of Glen Orme Ave in McKinnon,

When are you 18?

If you're of-age and mad about drains, the Cave Clan might suit.

'Might.' If you like rules and restrictions and people who think they're better than you. Urbex politics.
Nah CC is ok, just not for everyone.

Not in so many words. I'm honestly not going to comment on it. Perhaps trying asking Dougo or as he goes by on here, MickyD.

It's true the Cave Clan isn't for everyone. It does get cliquey sometimes, but so does any large social group. You'll have great time if you can roll with it and not take it too seriously.

The Cave Clan pull off a lot of things that almost no other exploration group in the world does (that includes UEGA). I'm talking parties underground with hundreds of attendees (many flying internationally to attend), regular organised expos, a huge resource of intel and getting to do locations that, for one reason or another, can't really be done easily by an individual or small group.

Most of the rules we have are just common sense, and aren't really restrictive if you're used to using common sense when exploring (or in general) anyway. If you like the social aspect of exploring, CC is definitely worth getting involved in.

Echo started probation but was asked to leave for a few reasons, mostly because he didn't fit in with the group at the time.

At the time :) Ayyy 13/04/2017 will be 2 years since getting cancelled. I know no one ever imposed a time limit on when I could perhaps reapply but I self imposed a minimum of 2 years. 2 years sure does fly by. We shall see.
