hi people.

I have a photography assignment coming up as part of my diploma and am looking to do night time architecture as a subject.

having only done drains, I only know of a few locations that would suit.

wondering if any of you would mind giving me a few ideas of historic buildings, and/or other buildings with interesting architecture around Brisbane.

I'm mostly interested in the external features of the buildings, as I will be incorporating the night sky into many of the images.

In this instance, I'm also going to be requesting permission from the owners of the property, as I need a documented release as part of the assessment.

cheers

Yep active is fine. I'm doing my own research of course, but I'm expecting to get a few requests for access knocked back and want to have as many options as possible.

UQ has a lot of nice sandstone buildings. Well lit up at night too. May be worth a wander around there.

Personally i would photo brisbanes brutalist buildings there are a few at uq some government buildings near that the museum and preforming arys building at southbank and of course the roma street station. A dying type of architecture in australia. Also if you ever went to the arts tafe at morning side before it was demolished that to was brutalist. If not the casino is normally lit up in different colours same as town hall they normally come out nice.

Photograph anything by FDG Stanely. He was Queensland's government architect during a time when Brisbane was becoming an established colony. A very important figure. He designed the Transcontinental Hotel, All Hallow's School and Tighnabruaich.

Newstead House also holds lots of photographic potential and random remnants in its grounds - - the huge fig trees you see out the front was a place where aboriginal people were hanged during the 1800's. Australia has come a long way si- whats that? One Nation holds a senate in North Qld?? I stand corrected..

Cheers peeps. Still in early stages of planning but it's nice to have some ideas this early on, considering that I usually leave everything to the last minute and work in a panicked hurry.
