New Melbournian thinking of joining the fold

Hey everyone,
I'm a new member from Melbourne interested in checking out the views around the city.

I'm mainly interested in finding my way onto roofs and sitting, enjoying the view and the feeling of being high up. I've a had a fascination with cities, rooftops and heights since I was a little kid, and I've been thinking "why not explore them" recently.

While I'm mainly interested in roofs, I've been throwing around the idea of checking out some of the drains since melboune has a lot of great ones, I read. Not really much of a spider guy though, so drains may not be the places for me

Looking forward to learning more about this, been interested for a while but have yet to do an outing. Hoping to go for my first soon. Have a good one all!

Welcome!
Be careful on rooftops as they can be highly conspicuous and you never know who will see you.
Wander often. Wonder always.

Yep, don't do an echo.

Most drain spiders are harmless. :)

Yeah, it's the "most" part that worries me :D heard about the red-backs and possibility of finding vic funnel-webs, just a bit shaky on the whole thing.

"Don't do an echo" sounds like a teaser to an interesting story...?

Hey Swish good to meet you. I've got a rooftop in mind that I want to go back and climb. Check out my pic: https://www.flickr.com/photos/140517973 ... ed-public/

It's somewhere in Richmond and will have a great view of the city from the top. Want to go check it out with me some time?

I hear ya, but I'm inexperienced so something a little less tall would probably be a good first try. I'll be exploring my area and having a look around, but it's something to shoot for.

Just don't go with echo, or you'll be photographed by neighbours, have your face end up in the Herald Sun, and be directly responsible for a review of the building's security.

Yeah, I now have my reservations about heading up there :D but it does look like the view would be fantastic.

You get desensitised to draining conditions pretty quick. One moment you're freaking out about the webs on the ceiling of Mini 10th, a month later you're crawling 30 minutes up a 50 cm squeeze pipe brushing redbacks out of the way.

Yeah I figure, and getting over my thing with spiders is a goal of mine. I've been thinking of checking out the great stairway, I'm just not sure where to start looking for it. Been thinking of finding a group/guide to bring me on my first trip, you wouldn't happen to be willing to do that/know anyone that would, would you?
