I dunno whats better, work boots or volleys. I like my old boots but would be a pain when full of water, so im thinking volleys for drainage.

What does everyone wear when they are out an about?

It depends what I'm doing, if I'm climbing something I use volleys but I'm still undecided if they're a good choice or not. I prefer them because I can feel what's going on under my feet better and I feel like I have better grip. To be honest I'm still undecided if volleys or work boots are the better choice.

For anything else I wear work boots :)

Comes down to individual preference.
I prefer work boots in dry to slightly muddy conditions - Mainly for superior grip and safety (syringes etc.) I wear rubber boots unless it is far to muddy, or the water is too deep - that stage is where and old pair of sandshoes come in real handy. I've stepped on a lot of stuff that could have really f***ed me up if I weren't wearing heavy boots.
I usually go hunting for new sites wearing my work boots, and if necessary, return another day with the appropriate gear.
acually is nuggs

I always take spare shoes and socks if there's any chance it could be wet, which are usually random boots, and runners. Otherwise, I just wear my runners. The sole is pretty strong despite the light weight.

After coming out of Batcave with boots full of ****-knows-what I'm pretty sold on getting some gumboots and walking straight up the middle.

Have a pair of Ecco gortex walking boots which I've also found are good for climbing up those old slim ladders. Can't remember the name of them.
Just a harmless explorer. No need to waste taxes checking me ;)

Cheap runners from Lowes or Target. That's all I have ever needed.

These 515s are some of my favourite shoes. Really comfy, light weight, very protective, very grippy, great for climbing steel (especially wet steel), very quick drying and hosable.

For muddy or wet I love these 246s, THE MOST COMFORTABLE BOOTS I HAVE EVER WORN (maybe a little heavy for a smaller build though), plus all of the above.

For advice on good boots, ask a roadie. If they are still comfortable after 35 hours and 5 semis, they're a good boot!
You can't walk along a barbed wire fence with a foot in each paddock.

Bit of a thread revival...

After a few slippery experiences with hiking boots, I've been wearing volleys for most drain explores which have amazing grip, but aren't really designed to get wet and then dried out multiple times. Whilst having a look for aqua shoes, I came across these:

They look like skate shoes, but are actually aqua shoes with what appears to be a good grip (herringbone sole similar to volleys). I might get a pair!
