Hey guys,

I am just wondering if anyone has visited this site as I am curious to know if there is any security around this site? I have heard of vandals being in there and doing graffiti in there so I'm not sure if any more caution should be taken in the site.

I tried contacting the site director, who I don't think has ever visited the site and even being pretty persistent with the matter of trying to get on I was declined.

I would like to photograph in there but the trouble is too that they mighten be to fond of it either!

I explored it in 2004 when it was semi abandoned and laying derelict (you could walk through the front gate). Since then it has been refurbished and opened up as a museum, they actually fire those 6 inch guns on the first Sunday of every month. All the buildings and doors to tunnels are alarmed, it has a loud clanging bell that can be heard across the local area and there are house all around it.

Isn't that Fort Scratchley's in Newcastle near Nobby's beach? I know they have opened that up and you can even go in there at night if you wish, you just need to pay someone to supervise whilst in there which I thought was really nice.

This site resides near the entrance to Stockton just past the age care facility. You can walk behind it and see some really nice concrete emplacements from WWII along the beach.

The main complex though has been fenced off, last I heard some vandals went in there and grafted the place so I am kinda curious to see if they have done anything else aside from put up the fence.

I tried the site Director twice saying that I'd sign wavers and meet whatever requirements he needed but still refused me which is really displeasing....

Sorry you are right I was talking about Scratchley. I always mix up Newy bunkers.
But Fort Wallace was also refurbished, not sure if has been opened up to the public.

i visited the base earlier today all the buildings have windows and doors boarded up but one door or window on each building has been broken into there is also access to a 10 meter deep tunnel which i did not go into because i only had my phone torch the building interiors look fairly new other than the fact that all the lights are smashed on the ground and the accommodation rooms are empty other than the wardrobe there is also a mechanic/vehicle storage area towards the front of the base and an indoor basketball court we remained UN detected and avoided the front because it is on the main road there was no security there that we could see although its worth walking around the back when you enter/exit to avoid being sus as you have to climb over the fence and the back fence is not barb wire topped i wouldnt go there at night

if you were to get caught on fort Wallace would the charge for trespassing be worse because of the fact that defence owns the land and its a military base
