I was looking through some old military pics and came accross a decent size fort along the coast of S.A
Maybe someone has some recents pics of the place and some more history.

I see also that the defence guns look very similar to that of fort Drummond, even down to the gun shield.

I don't think I could do that without a month's supply of food and water. I've a fear of breaking down in the desert and dying before anyone finds me. (Or not enough petrol for that matter.)

Actually Fort Largs became part of the police academy at Largs Bay. It is National trust listed I think. It is not the same as Fort Glanville which is about 3km south. I have been to both and there are photos of both in my IG and Flickr. I will dig up some pics of fort largs that I have not posted online before. I snuck in a few months back during the new police academy open day. The gates were open and I had my camera.
I am new here so have not even sorted my signature or made an intro post yet but I will elaborate on this when I am not using the iPhone.

This was taken at fort largs http://instagram.com/p/Y-MXiJBAKS/ but I will find the better more open shots.

Cheers,
Rhys

I grew up spending Sundays at Fort Glanville as my dad used to be a volunteer there so lots of time spent underground, in tunnels and around the cannons - very cool. However Fort Largs I believe is in the future going to be turned into a residential development. The police academy there may still exist but barely. There was an article in the Advertiser a while about it all.

Fort Glanville is worth checking out, but Fort Largs with no-one around would be even better!
