Urbex rookie here - looking for the best places in and around Sydney that can be reached via public transport (no car)

Hi guys,

My friend and I have dabbled in urban exploration a bit but only really checked out places we've sighted ourselves in our local areas. We're really keen to check out some of the more interesting and notorious sites in the Sydney region! However, neither of us has a car, which obviously makes things difficult as it seems a lot of the best novice-friendly sites are practically inaccessible without a personal vehicle. Surely there are still some great ones within walking distance of train and bus stops though, right?

Any recommendations would be awesome.

Thanks everyone!

Idk man, I'm novice as f*** and I manage okay. You don't really have the advantage of being able to cruise around like you would in a car, which makes it harder, but it's still far from being impossible.

Sometimes it works out okay, today I went to check out a drain, got there, it started raining + there were children everywhere so I walked around a corner and found three abandned houses, one of them had a charming old Datsun in the garden shed. Also an old lady offered to let me eat veggies from her garden which was nice.

If you're on buses and trains it's easy enough to spot obvious abandos/drains if they're there.

I've literally only been out a handful of times with a car (thank you kind, real-adults) this year for urbex-related things. From memory most of the places we went to you'd be able to get to via public transport though.

This post got unreasonably long really quickly, whoops.

Which notorious locations are you thinking of?
