Yes, I'm strange.

Hello everyone,
I am relatively new to this although I have been interested in it for quite some time. I'm based on the Sunshine Coast and I study in Brisbane. I'm a apprentice chef and I am qualified at the end of the year. As you can probably tell I have very poor social skills, I'm rather straightforward, tend to say what I think, and I don't really care for pretext or small talk (In my mind I've always called it superfluous conversation). I'm pretty far to the left politically, a proud Greens voter, and don't really know what else to write. I'm actually surprised that I could come up with this much. Oh, I like to read too.

TL;DR I'm a weirdo.

I'm interested in Underground Stuff like bunkers (but not drains) and abandoned buildings. I've been to the abandoned asylum at Wacol which was easier than I thought, I just walked around the fence until I found a hole and in I went. As it turns out the security guards knew full well what I was doing but they were pretty nice. (They just approached me when I was going back to my car and told me to be wary of smackheads)

Anyway, I want to know how you find new places to explore, and keep in mind that I can't just drive around aimlessly looking for buildings because A- I work full time and B- I haven't the slightest clue where to start. So some help would be much appreciated. Feel free to ask me anything and give advice.

Regards, Jay Best.

Welcome to the forum :) You'll only find places if you invest time into it, and driving around is probably the quickest way to do so. Research and looking at the news will only get you so far.

Any ideas on where to start? Or just drive around every single street until I find a place?

You can try looking at Instagrams, they're usually pretty handy for finding the more popular (and unsurprisingly, trashed/graffed) locations.

I couldn't tell until you mentioned it :)

Just curious, but why not drains? They're my favourite thing to explore but I can how most topside-focussed people might find them boring... They're also quite easy to find, at least down in Melb...

As to finding locations, driving around a bit (I work full-time too) on a spare weekend is a good method, but you got to know what you're looking for - you can find loads of locations (or at least starting points) with Google if you know what search terms to use, keep probing, etc. That's how I got started, then recon on a Sunday arvo, etc...

Welcome! Probably very forward of me, but I like your personality already!
If I'm ever in the Sunshine Coast, I'd love to explore bunkers with you- that's a part of UE'ing that I haven't 'explored' yet ;)
