Fire tower

Does anyone have any recent photos of the fire tower? I've heard that some changes have been made recently but haven't had a chance to get up there to have a look..

Ladder gone. Radio infrastructure installed on the tower.

Worth a look to see if that's the case, was thinking of more Light Painting there!!

Radio infrastructure? What kind? That's happening a lot in Sydney. A lot of buildings and even tall road signs now have 4g transmitters on them.

Ladder is gone but you can still climb up and I haven't seen any radio gear up there unless it's ontop of the roof

Have been thinking of camping out up top but waited too long and now it's too cold to be hanging around that high up

I understand that police radio gear is now supposed to be on the tower. I might go for a ride tomorrow and have a look. If/when I go I'll upload some pics

I'm overseas, but my daughter went last night and found an empty site with temp fencing all round, got a grainy pic, not much to see..

That was me that left the rope mate haha, i went with some of my female friends, and being girly girls they had a lot of trouble getting up without the ladder. Shame to see it gone now though.

Nearmap confirms the fire tower has been replaced with a radio tower. What a damn shame. Glad I got to climb it while it was still standing

Eventually I'll get myself up there for some proper photos.

The new tower doesn't look claimable, and even if it was I'd generally advise against climbing active radio towers for the associated RF exposure risk.
