Whats the oldest explorer tags you have come across in a tunnel. This morn i went for a cruise up my local drain further then i have ever been an found a tag from 1989 written in pencil, next junction was an 1982 tag. Up the end near the slide i found cc tag from 2012 claiming they found the slide, but up top the slide is a tag from dsankt which is way older.

Anyone else found old markings like this???

I was thinking pencil would be washed out pretty quickly... but I could be wrong, or it may not be pencil, just something that looks like it. Still, pretty awesome as you found a dsankt tag that old. Been following his blog and being inspired. :D

The " pencil/ charcoal " has never been submerged, the drain is lucky to see water of half capacity. Ive never seen it over a third in a decade. Dsankt tag going by his site he was there in "04". I enjoy his pictures also.

Ah, that might indeed last that long then.

He takes pretty awesome photos. I love the one on top of a suspension bridge. I probably will never do that for two reasons: I'm deathly afraid of heights, and I have no idea how to get up there.

Wow, if legit, that is old! Nice work.

I've heard there are carvings in Brisbane drains dating into the 1800's.
Will upload pics when/if I find them.
Though, probably done by the convicts that built the drains, rather than explorers.

Is that Dungeon, or Sloths?
I think I've seen Alf Sadlier tags from 1944 in one of those drains.

In France I have seen carved names from the 1800s in the Catacombs. Much much older names in the Catacombs of Rome though. Three digit numbers!
