blakjak wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that only get you the Urbex name for that location in said pic? (Eg: Fortress, Swoo, etc) You can find that out here by simply asking.
You'd still need to do the research to find out where it is and how to get in, unless at least one person linked to that pic has mentioned those details so in effect you're back in square one.
Like I just said, sometimes it's useless but I've located several Melbourne (and NZ) addresses this way because it lets me search outside social media. Just because the image is strictly hashtagged doesn't mean it isn't featured elsewhere on the interwebs in greater detail. Does that make sense? I'd name a couple of locations and why it worked but I don't want to get in trouble with the mods.

All it would really help with is finding the urbex name for that location in the pic. You'd still have to do the hard yards to actually discover where it is etc.
In other words, it's useless. :)

Wow, that was really polite. And sadly wrong, though I doubt you'll agree.
To repeat myself, I've found several Melbourne addresses - actual addresses for places I had no prior knowledge of and have never visited - using a reverse image search.
If it wasn't a viable option, I wouldn't have mentioned it. I've sorry you find the concept so offensive.

I'm with kjwx, maybe you're just doing it wrong blackjak? :/
The various reverse image search tools on the interwebs have been invaluable.

Oh Come on it had a smiley face after it, you do realize that that's the online indicator of a joke right? And maybe I wasn't clear enough, sure it helps find locations people already explore and brag about online, not new 'unknown' (to explorers) locations.
And I hope it has helped ya find new places to explore, but there's tons of better ways to find locations, but no probs you stick to Google reverse pic search lol.

lol yeah cause I'm so desperate I need to scrounge around the internet to find out where all the urbex locations are. :)
Fact is that when all the best locations were discovered (Maze, Swoo, Fortress, Anzac, all the bunkers etc) there was no such thing as Google reverse image search or even Google itself.

The best way still to find stuff is to get out there.

+1 to that. It's more fun to discover things by wandering around or getting lost. (Although with the hours I work a week, it's rare for me to just wander around these days. Maybe I don't need sleep?)

My mum works at the domestic airport, heaps of stuff to see there, even in the public sections.
