Anybody Carry A Fake Wallet?

So ... I've been reading lately about American explorers who carry a fake wallet with them - one with a couple of bucks inside and some expired credit cards - in case they get robbed.
Out of curiosity: Does anybody at this end of the globe do this too? And if so, what made you start?

While I don't take things that extreme I do take certain precautions such as limiting the valuables I carry when exploring - especially If I go alone.

I don't take a wallet, more so, so I don't lose it and leave it behind.

I aint 'fraid of no muggers.

Nah but I think the probably of running into one is pretty small and not worth the hassle of preparing for.
And, well, unless they have a gun, there's always the options of fight/flight.

Plus cash is annoying and I only carry cards. So even if I were somehow robbed, the thief wouldn't have anything to show for their troubles besides an old leather wallet.

Apart from one time it's always been 'them' being wary of 'us'.
In saying that, I almost always leave my wallet and fone in the car, no use losing them and having to go searching, and you don't need ID to get into drain nightclubs. And the last thing you want to do is to lose your wallet in a super sensitive location where it can be used as proof of you being there. I know of at least one person who has been fined that way when he lost his wallet inside an old bus depot and was asked to come pick it up from the cop shop only to be whacked with a trespassing fine after he basically admitted that he was in there (was caught off guard as he didn't even know he had lost his wallet till the cops called him).

Usually don't take much with me to begin with, rarely carry cash so if I need to take cards and I'm worried I'll just put them in my shoes. Generally speaking I don't even carry a wallet anyway.
Figure I'm more likely to have my camera stolen, so I'm not too bothered about fake wallets.

Kind of, I have a duct tape wallet I i use for exploring with a bit of cash in case of whatever, I dont really have much else in there except an expired gift card. But I dont usually have my ID in it. I just like to be prepared for whatever.

I was once walking through an unexplored place (unexplored by me) and at the other end there was a shop. And after my unprepared couple hours trek I needed water. So the duct tape wallet came in handy. I basically wouldnt care too much If I lost it but its handy to have.

You should always carry a bottle of water, nobody will steal that off ya, although a duck tape wallet wouldn't be too attractive to junkies either.

I always plan to, but always forget and get really thirsty :x

I don't really take any major precautions like this. The chance of running into someone in a location is quite slim, and the chance that they'll want to mug you is even slimmer. While it is a possibility, it's not likely enough to prepare for imo. That being said, my opinion may change after I inevitably get mugged from jinxing myself ;)

I usually carry most of my day to day stuff as I don't really have any place to leave it... I.e. I tend to head out exploring far away from home and for a long time or I explore after work.

I don't think it would be a 'fake' wallet..I think it would be a real wallet used as a dummy?....hmm. .but in all seriousness, do you mean as a bribe for people to leave you alone if they try to hassle you..otherwise why not, not take one with you at all?

I will add that having real ID on you will assist in letting you loose if and when you do eventually get sprung by 'The Man'. When you're arrested they never let you go until they work out who you really are, fake ID and names won't cut it, and having no ID at all just costs you time.
