I'm pretty comfortable around 15-20ish, but the Canberra winters are brutal man :/ The nights and early mornings when I start work are negs :(

At least you're close (in comparison to Sydney) to the snow fields! I'm hoping for a good snow season this year.

While that is true, the Canberra snow fields are way too commercialised, and consequently way too expensive. Honestly, you're better off investing a little bit more and heading over to NZ. And half of the time it's not even good... I tried to go early last year and it was just dirt and ice :/

I'm actually heading over to NZ for the snow this year too. I wonder what their drains are like?

Forget drains. Go to Christchurch a lot of the buildings are still closed from that earthquake a while back. Urbex Central!

Bought some boots, sick of using my runners and slipping over every 5 minutes :x
These are the pair I bought: http://goo.gl/UuhY1d -- can anyone comment on how suitable this pair is for exploration?

I wear $5 Kmart slipons for everything. I wear them on dates with my girlfriend, I wear them in drains, abandos. I wear them everywhere and I love them.

That's true, but I also get comfort and dry feet :3 Worth the investment imo, especially since they last a lot longer than most shoes. I have relatively delicate bones, or at least when I fall, I fall hard, so the amount of money I save because I can work (can't work with broken bones) is maybe a factor too.
