That moment you realise you fucked up

Ever have that moment where you just wonder 'why the f*** did I do this?'. Well today in Maze I had that moment. While Fudoh and Costa went back downstream to exit I decided 'hey let's crawl up this pipe and find a new exit.' 40mins of crawling later I finally find a grill. But I can't lift the damn thing. I swear it was like 100kg. So while all this is going on those 2 have exited already. In the end I have to call Costa and get him to come and open it from above for me because there is no way I'm crawling back for 40mins. Not after what the first 40mins did to my knees.

While standing below the grill waiting for Costa to arrive I kept thinking why the f*** did I do this? Definitely not one of my best moments.

Damn. How small was the side pipe? And how big was the grill? Most grills I've seen aren't that heavy?

2 words, crystal meth.
If you can crawl up a sh1tty 2ft pipe for 40 mins you might as well get a job at your local Woolies breaking down boxes for 18 hours a day...your talent is being wasted.

I feel ya man, I did the same thing in Burford's Hell Hole. Obviously didn't have to crawl, but my back was at a 90 degree angle the entire way, and it was killing me for the rest of the week :/

There is a reason why it is called Hell!

It probably wasnt as heavy as I thought. But I was suffering fatigue and I'm not particularly strong to start with. Here's a really bad pic I took of it while lying on my back below it exhausted.

And I'm not very good with judging pipe sizes but the pipe was no more than 20cm above my back at all times while crawling.

I'm not a big fan of crawling through drains... or getting wet. Closest thing would be climbing up 8 stories of scaffolding, then realising I would have to climb back down... my girlfriend was with me though, so gotta pretend to be a man. ;)

Don't know the regs these days, but pretty sure a regular shift is 6hrs, double being 12hrs, with atleast a 10hr turnaround, I could be wrong but still thought I'd put it out there

And in regards to the op, I'd say this, one of the best things that my lecturer taught me was the 7 "P"s, which applies to everyday life:

prior planning and preparaton prevents piss poor performances

Take from that what you will

The legality varies based on your work type and what job you're in (different awards have different rules and regulations), plus a bunch of other factors (i.e. state is probably a factor). For me, as a hospitality worker, I'm allowed to work 11.5 hours max (plus the 1 hour minimum break time), which is pretty reasonable imo.

I believe you used to be able to choose to work longer shifts, or perhaps the laws were different, or maybe there were just a lot more under-the-counter employees... regardless, 18 hour shifts are very uncommon nowadays :p

But what if at least one of the 6 unknown spatial dimensions, according to string theory, is in fact a temporal dimension? And what if said temporal dimension was introduced into our universe? Would it work in cohesion with time, or would it oppose our very existence? And then what of our free will, Midget!? WHAT THEN!?

You'd think he'd know better than to coerce a gullible teenager into doing his dirty work. Especially seeing as how he's a mod.

Exactly, I'm just trying to abide by the rules and make an honest living, y'know? Then this guy comes along and all of a sudden I'm a meth smoking, heroine injecting, cocaine snorting drug addict that resorts to theft in order to fund my lifestyle... all because of Midget. :(

Just read this thread... that damage is nothing to getting your shoe caught on a tram track... just glad I was as drunk as I was because I didn't feel a thing.
I sure feel it now.

Invest in some pads now eh? :)
