ANZAC was a good amateur drain, its still OK. There's a knee deep damn extending all the way from the entrance to the Chamber so be prepared to get wet. Walk along the side, not down the middle.
Check the weather (obviously). When it rains, no drains.
Don't take spray paint or anything of that nature.
Take a spare torch.
Mmm that's about all I can think of. When I explore I always take 2 torches and my phone. That's usually all I need. If I could be bothered carrying a backpack I'd take some water too but usually I can't be bothered.
Wander often. Wonder always.

Check out this page dude, it'll tell you everything about draining, from drain safety (super important) to finding locations.

The basic rules of drain exploring, as according to Pred:
1. When it rains, no drains. Check the skies, get a weather report. DO it!
2. Always go in numbers (3 is good, more can get a bit crowded).
3. Tell a third party where you are going. In some cases you might arrange someone to come looking for you, if you haven't called them by a prearranged time.
4. Take a reliable torch. Also take a reliable spare torch.
5. Check the air for noxious, unbreatheable or poisonous impostors.
