Hi there, complete novice here. Haven't done any urban exploration in over a year since the last Sydney Cave Clan expo in October 2010 exploring Hercules Pillars. Only been to a few newbie expos before and that's it, haven't heard from them since. I wonder if the clan is still alive, and if urban exploration in Sydney is a mere shadow of its past. (all the best places are locked up or guarded)

Maybe through these forums I may reunite with some peeps I met then. :)

Welcome aboard mate!

Not a lot of activity anymore I think, at least in sydney anyway. I heard rumours that the sydney group retired.. kinda sucks! I went to a few newbie expo's back then too, what did you introduce yourself as? I might remember you :)

Sydney's pretty s*** urbex-wise, we should move to melbourne... or russia!

I recall they promised another expo december of 2010, but I never heard back. Anyway my alias was Karona; in the few expos I went I think I was the only asian guy, so you might remember me.

I want to go back to the zetlands/alexandria system, hopefully they havent locked the terminal at botany road. I'll check some day.

Sydney's not dead, they've just gone underground since the deaths in Fortress.

PM me if you'd like a current contact in Sydney.

They have made it a bit harder to get in after getting a few nutty members that caused huge problems (I think you now need 8 members to vouch for you).

I don't want to but in if UEGA wants to be run seperately to C/C, but if that is the case then let me know and I'll play along :)

Cheers,

Doug

If anyone from UEGA would like to join C/C on their exhibitions there is no problem, we are not for exclusion here in UEGA. We are all here for the same cause.
Same is for any C/C members, if they would like to join us for any UEGA tours, they are more than welcome.

Drains and Topside stuff don't go anywhere, even if people want to be 'secret squirrel' like.!!! :-)

All one has to do, is read 10 reports of a certain spot, look at images all over the net, to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

ie: the shape of the grill called "The Pyramid" which covers a connection to "Swoo", is pretty unique. I read one persons report of "Oh it's right next to the ____line", and knew straight away where to go, as I'd seen it almost everyday on the way to work, for years.

I think UE's need to be self reliant first, then keen to hook up with like minded individuals second. Otherwise relying on others to simply hand over knowledge and spots which they may have done the hard yards to find, will make you look like you almost expect things to be handed to you, just because you are curious.
Do the hard yards yourself first.

I read some retard having a go at the CC and Doug in particular, and felt like smacking the dipshit., cause he was peeved no one from the CC had 'wiped his bum' by giving him details of stuff or contacting him. Then in all his (obviously mentally about 16years old) wisdom retorted by saying the CC was s*** and meaningless.

How hard is doing stuff yourself?

Not very.

Drains and topside stuff CAN be locked up, it's happened to quite a few good places in Sydney and it will keep happening if people don't leave things the way they found it or if they get caught because they're not careful. There was a time where we thought nothing would happen.. but that changed.

But everything else, exactly dude! Some of the places with pics online are amazing.. but there are so many more which aren't.. and a lot more which haven't been discovered yet. That's the real fun. Simple things like just looking in any grilles you see, checking google maps and following canals until they go underground, taking note of new construction sites for new drain extensions, placing disposable gps homing devices on big pieces of 3m rcp fresh out of the factory so you can track it later... you know... simple stuff. :D

It's really rewarding when you find something pretty damn cool all on your own, whether it be an abandonent, drain, tunnel, etc.

In an attempt to make a point, put yourself in CC's position. Would you want someone that's "just curious" to join so they can leech off other explorers? You're either an asset or a liability.. if you're a liability.. then you won't make it. It takes effort, passion, courage, trust and a load of curiousity.. but if you think it's worth it, you'll be rewarded in seeing many many beautiful places.

Trust is a huge part of urbex, at least in the sydney scene. If you go around posting photos, videos and/or location information about stuff you explore.. then of course you'll get a load of kids going in with a very high chance they'll ruin the place (or get it locked up for good) or tell someone who will. I can't stress this enough.. some things are better left quiet and out of ALL media. There is enough information online from us and other urbex groups/forums all over the world to start you off safely.. and if you're unsure about anything, ask! :D It's not a rep game. We're all in this together.

We don't want an incident like the Shard in the uk that rang alarm bells for the whole country. f*** BLG, absolute tool. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... lding.html

I think I've said enough. Anyone is free to pm me with any questions, I'll gladly help.

What an epic intro thread lol.
