So I just wanted to jump on very quickly to inform everyone of why they may not see me posting as frequently for at least the next week.
Today I went to explore a drain known as Wes' Tomb in Geelong and had an unfortunate incident take place which inevitably meant my iPhone 5 is now in phone heaven. May it rest in peace. As my iPhone was really the only way I had to access the internet it basically means that until I get a new phone I will not be online very often.
Now I have to get off my Mum's laptop.
Stay safe everybody and happy exploring.
Wander often. Wonder always.

Hm, saltwater :(
Still, might be recoverable.

Mines been in freshwater (or not so fresh stormwater lol) a few times, only briefly (2-3 seconds).

Always switch it off straight away, if you can.

Pull it apart asap (or most importantly, just the battery) if you have the tools, and leave it to dry for a few days.

If this happens to mine, I just place in the cupboard directly above the oven and leave it there for about a week, seems to fix em well. Most thorough way of drying one out I reckon.
Good luck with it !

Kind Regards

That wasn't what I meant, but Nugg's alternative solution will also work.

Lost my iPhone4 a few years ago when I was out shooting rabbits on a mates property out stanthorpe way, ended up giving up trying to find it that trip, came back 3 months later on another trip and found it behind a log i used to snipe the sodden things from, was still in its protective case, thought well at least I got the case back, anyways long story short I plugged it into the charger when I got home went to work and when I got home it was god to go again.
And kept on going for a whole year afterward until I gave it to my sister, she had the screen smashed before I even left the house the next day :o :o

Wow. Did you have one of those mil-spec cases or Lifeproof-whatever on?

My ex's auntie had a new phone, so she ordered a case online. When she was putting on the case, she dropped the phone and the screen cracked. Talk about bad luck/timing/motor skills.

just a otter box that was a year and a half old and had already seen a fair bit of abuse in a sheetmetal workshop.
the clips that held it onto the phone were just about rooted before I lost it and was covered in pock marks from welding spatter.

definitely a mix of bad luck and timing. :o
