You've probably seen it before, but I thought I'd post it as the WA forum looks fairly bare!

North Coogee power station,

It's an easy explore, it's all just a husk & has been trashed, but a fun afternoon and not too far from Perth.

Enjoy!

Location secrecy probably doesn't really apply to this one as it would be the best known abandoned site in the Perth region, it was a walk in site until about 18 months ago until the third fence was put up around it - solid steel.

Every time i'v been here we were promptly greeted by the seemingly permanent security presence, who has the super exciting job of endlessly driving round in circles around the perimeter. If you can dodge the secca and get inside the building I would suggest getting off the ground floor ASAP as it's pretty hollow and easy to be spotted, although it seems that several times a day there's someone having a go at getting in...

Worth a look if you can crack it though, most of the internal ladders etc have been removed by western power, and the majority of the basement is blocked off, but she's a grand old building...

I went last year, there were holes in the fence, the place had been trashed, and the location is on the Wikipedia page.

Not really anything to trash when it's an empty shell. Very few places in such condition are as interesting as Freo PS though.

A semi-recent article about it:

Some great historic photos as well.

That's about the best historical photo of Freo PS that's around anywhere!

Havn't been down that way for a while now, it seems to be almost constantly guarded these days...

Finally cracked it, wasn't so hard after all, Have been wanting to do this one for ages.....

Considering the state of the place, it's more interesting than I thought it would be, well worth a visit, but stay on the ball, it is a dangerous place, holes in the floor, rusted steelwork etc. climbing a wobbly ladder up to the rusty platform that leads to the roof felt like one of the more stupid things that i'd done in my time, but all good...

Some pic's of the day in no particular order... >

The place has been in the news as it looks like it may be done up into apartments. Also a cop severed some fingers chasing some kids out.
I have been in a couple of times recently. If anyone is interested I can share some recent 2015 pics.

You're right, some draft redevelopment concept was released to public a few months back. In recent years I believe it was estimated somewhere above 20 million just to secure and waterproof the building. Having sat abandoned with no preservative attempts for over 20 years, the concrete between the windows is in a really bad way and almost beyond repair, although she would be a grand old building with huge potential if someone is actually prepared to make the investment...

Feel free to show us your pics mate, always good to see abandoned places through someone else's eyes!

Cheers...

The redevelopment of this building would be a huge and expensive project thats for sure. You can see the concrete crumbling off of the walls. But I agree it would be a spectacular spot to make apartments overlooking the ocean.
These are pics from my latest vist in 2015.

Nice pics,
Looks a lot like Wangi power station on the inside. The graffiti on pic 14 is cool.
Please don't ask where this is or how to get in, its called urban exploration. if you are told the location and how to get in, its tourism not exploration" :D
