I have been very curious about urban exploring and locating forgotten historic buildings, bunkers and tunnel systems for some time and would now very much like to get actively involved.

I live in the Blue Mountains and know that there are some sites well worth visiting out my way.

As it happens, I only know where a few are located at present, but have not visited even these yet as I am still a bit confused as to how to go about getting permission from the the legal owners of those properties.

Are there any clubs devoted to this sort of exploration in the mountains?

This and any other advice would be much appreciated! :)

Hey Poltergeist :)
Great intro!

If you'd like to PM me some of these locations, I will see about possibly arranging something for the NSW crew.

Thanks :)

Gday! Yay, another mountain goat! Feel free to PM me, but yeah as I'm sure you're aware, getting permission can make an explore much better, for example I got given the tour of the big ol' telescope about halfway up the hill. Along with the tour, the bloke told me heaps of info on how it worked, who owns the site etc. FYI, cameras for days, don't bother without permission haha.

Anyway, remember that safety is the main priority, don't publicly share spots, don't damage spots, and all shall be good :D

Welcome! I head up to the mountains quite often now as one of my friends moved there. I visited Catalina Park, the Katoomba abandoned race track recently as well. It's open to public, and if you go at dawn or dusk, you'll get some good shots.
