Hi All,

I've just signed up for this group, I did a post up about 5 mins ago as I was curious about the area that I used to live in as a kid and some of the stuff i came across in the areas around Salisbury, Coopers Plains, Rocklea and Tarragindi.

If anyone can help answer any questions I have about the area or even if you've heard of rumors or old tales if you could share them with me I'll be over the moon.

Thanks,

Will-043

The best way to find out would be going to check them out yourself. Some the the intel you get from here might be somewhat outdated or have elements of "he said she said". Plus, you want to find out so you can check it out if they do exist, right? Well even if they don't, that's part of the fun of exploring :o

The old air raid bunker/shelter just off Evans Road in Salisbury has always made me wonder what's inside it, but haven't checked it out as yet,
and I've come across old small arms ammuntion and the odd rusted up bayonet in the bush just up from Beryl Roberts Park in Coopers Plains, the ground there is pretty swampy and the area is covered in blackberry bushes, but I'd love to know what else is laying around just under the surface there.
There is also an old quarry just up the road from The Salisbury Macca's, just down the hill from Pegg's Lookout in the Mayne Estate section of Toohey Forest, there's old concrete foundations on one side, the odd bit of old quarrying equipment here and there, then on the opposite side to the old foundations, about 4-5m from the quarry wall the dirt and rocks are full of old lead and jacketed projectiles from all sorts of calibres. Guessing that it might've been a short distance firing range of some sort back when?

makes sense of all the old rusted up bits and pieces that I've found all over the place in there. I've heard of people finding old tommy guns around the White's Hill/Toohey Forest area, wouldn't mind finding one of those, even if it was all rusted up and totally inoperable.
