Heya,

As promised, here's a pic I took from a favourite lost place of mine.

Have lots more photos from places, am thinking of starting a blog on Sydney exploring this year. Will put more pics up once that's set up.

Am new here, so not sure what rules are on photos/sharing but I ask if you could not use this pic without my permission. Ta!

I remember seeing TV ads of this place and remember sliding down that slide when it was opened. Really cool fun. Pity it's closed.
Just a harmless explorer. No need to waste taxes checking me ;)

Just be careful when you go at night, cops do a lap around the site.
Stupidity helps you make the first step and sense gets you out alive.

Also, this place is not the safest. If you go, please wear boots because snakes would be rife in this weather.

I found it quite scary and eerie, but have a fear of water and it's built on a swamp - just thinking of the old waterslide makes me shiver, it was so gross.

Note I was wearing gumboots as I rode a bread tray down the condemned slide. Safety first.

I thought the old children's section was creepier, all those broken mannequins lying around in the grass was just weird. Shame I didn't get a photo in hindsight.

Oh I didn't see those, but there were places I couldn't get to due to my phobia.

Eg: Didn't attempt to go near the boot. I was on my own and pretty petrified.

Oh I so wanted to climb the slide, but again - chickened out.

Too many pics are never enough....

Is this near Penrith by any chance? I used to live there in my childhood - in the eighties and I have very very vivid memories of a slide just like this. I'd love to visit this - along with any disused drive throughs...

And then there's an extra doll in the photo smiling at the camera.

Just for those interested, the slide has been demolished, and the road that runs down the side of the park has a new access gate blocking it. This has happened in the last couple of months since I last tried to take a look.
Looks like it may not be there much longer.
On the up side, when I went today, cause of the cool weather, I was able to get to the boot and the top of the water slide hill without having to worry so much about snakes.
I took a few pics which I may throw up soon.

Hehe I was looking to see if anyone would chuck in a sneaky reference as such :)

This guy made a pretty cool video of the place. He gives away details of it though, so if I'm revealing too much, just let me know. I've always remembered the part where he falls through one of the stairs on the slide, haha.

This is in NSW. I would recommend driving because bus services in Sydney are pretty bad, you know. You can also catch a taxi but that will cost a lot of money so be aware of that. If you are a very fit individual you can ride a bicycle or maybe even run the enrire way like forest gump does in his movie.

I might do another run past/thru there over the next week or two to see if anything else has been cleared or torn down. The slide may have been a one off demolition due to its dangerous nature or the start of a full scale clean up. Otherwise it may have been that the slide was the victim of scrap metal theft... Though the few piles of bent and twisted scrap where the slide was pretty much discounts that idea.

I think I know where this is. Is it near a river and just off a main highway ?????

A bit of googling should give you an answer.
Its a highway more by name than an actual higway these days.
And more lake than river, by sounds like your probably on the right track.
Access is easy, or at least was a few months back when I was last there.
Its possible that more of the site has been demolished since I was last there as the site is up for sale.

Also, there's a very very good clue in this thread as to the name of the place.
