Exact dates/times and meeting place TBA. Read to the end of this thread for updates.

Friends/guests welcome, depending on transport.
Let us know about any extras here first.

Checking out the military installations, having a drink, boring discussions about photography ;) urbex, fishing maybe, and just generally having a catch up.

4WD are a must to get out there, but I'm sure you could hitch a lift.

Thanks!

No dramas, I'm sure we could arrange some transport :)
I'm keen for a Saturday night, but either that or a Friday is fine with me.

i'll be there fri & sat, will make a weekend of it but that means i'll be heading up on the friday arvo (lot tides about 5pm so would want to leave bris by 4) and coming back sunday arvo around 4-5ish, i'd say (low tide at 6pm)

at this point we may have 3 dual cabs so i''d say you'll have a seat

how are we going on this one, anyone interested?
speaking to a couple of people, it will depend on if lifts can be given so in the interest of making it happen, lets get the ball rolling

does 17-19 jan work for people?

I should be good for those dates still. Only thing is I'd be leaving work pretty late on Friday. How critical is the tide time? Is there a long way around if need be?

Tides for Bribie below, will be a little variation to where we're going but not by much
Bribie can change a lot quickly, last I heard there was still heaps of beach left at high tide, I've seen it lapping at the dune before though. On that night, friends had tried a creek crossing and one car got swamped. There are 3-4 creeks to cross, most of the time they're a trickle if that, given we've had so little rain i doubt any have broken through to the ocean at the moment.

There is an inland track which is pretty soft without any rain so if your ute's like mine, best way to get through is foot to the floor which is hard at night. Map here http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/bribi ... c-area.pdf

Camping is about $6/person/night too. Permits are required for vehicles, I normally get a yearly permit. I think it would be reasonable to chip in for fuel/permit if you're catching a ride.
1 week or less = $41.75
more than 1 week (up to 1 year) = $130.40

I was thinking about leaving work about 6-7ish, though really I could just get the night off if I really want 8-) Inland track shouldn't be a drama, I'll just mash the pedal to the floor if I have to!
but yeah daylight would be better, doesn't hurt to have another 4x4 handy when ya get stuck lol

I can probably make this on the proviso of a ride! (With provided fuel money of course)

theres another sweet-looking site not far from it, so if we were all packed up at, say, 9am on the sunday, we could maybe swing by the other place, depending on how we're feeling.
wont worry me if we miss it, i'll go back anyway

its worth noting that there are only 16 from 63 sites free at the moment (beach camping). I'm not so keen on camping on the calm side (17 from 20 sites free), can be tonnes of bities and probably a bit hotter but then again you can have fires on the calm side and living on grass for a weekend is probably easier than soft sand.

had a look, there are a couple of clumps of sites available:
1. clump of 5 sites in one driveway, (total 15 people) nothing stopping someone booking a site to themselves for the weekend - we do it most of the time so others dont camp near us, i mean, get disturbed by us. About 500m from the toilet block
2. couple of clumps of 3-4 sites (total 8-10 people) next to each other in the main campsite which has toilets. is not normally very loud, but i dont like being too loud either

any thoughts? as you need an account to book, I am happy to book sites for people as long as i get paid back, my general rule is if you bail, you still pay. If the weather turns to crap we can get our money back as its less than 2 weeks away

so at the moment we have:
Nuggs
Dynamite
Nopro
Nopro's +1 (doesn't have a silly urbex name... yet)
Nopro's +2 (doesn't have a silly urbex name... yet)
Aydun

anyone else?

Caloundra is showing chance of early storms on satdy but sunny arvo, which is not a bad thing, bit of rain will make for easier driving, then hopefully sunday is clear skies ahead
