Hey guys, I'm new hear and was just wondering, preferably from experience, if anyone new how long it takes to have a decent geeze in Bufords. i.e. how long is it safe to be in there from low tide/how deep does it get/how strong the current is.
Cheers in advance.

Depends how long you want to look around for! Burfords is a favorite of mine. As with any tidal drain, best to just check your times and go when she's low. Just take the upstream entrance and work your way down.
It gets better towards the end anyways, that way you'll appreciate all the changes along the way!
Check out the Brisbane meetup thread too - I'm seeing if I can drum up some interest in a pre Christmas tour. Depending on numbers and who is keen for what, maybe you can come check it out with some other members :D

I would like to be down there in excess of an hour 1/2. Would you say that is a safe amount of time?

Do it bottom to top, then tides not a problem. Just might get some funny looks on the way in. We invited our onlookers along but they werent properly attired

Isn't the way in within the rail corridor?

Yep. Just remember the step irons are on the other side to where you approach it!
And Razz, yeah an hour or two is about how long it will take you if you're having a good look, stopping often to take pics etc. Weather permitting, as always.

Thanks guys.
The advice is helpful because I do not intend to die in a drain as a result of poor planning :D

I think we should do something social, like a Burfords Batcave BBQ (BBBBQ), a late-ish tea ending conveniently around low-tide followed by a trip up a nice pipe. If we have enough punters maybe we can charter a bus for the trip back to the outfall.

If it was a winner and we did it every 2 years it could be BBBBBQ, even
