m2 Bushland

This isn't exactly 'urban exploration', more standard 'normal exploration. Has anyone else explored the bushlands around the m2 highway? I live night next to the motorway, and just recently started exploring around these 'forbidden forests'.

(Around the Castle Hill to Macquarie Park area )

It's pretty amazing, all this bushland no one else really knows about.

There are tunnels/drains/bridges/waterfalls, plenty of things to explore.

There is some exceptional graffiti there as well.

If there's visible graffiti on the highway panels, it gets removed straight away. But not on the other side, there are some amazing artworks there which the publilc doesn't see.

I know this is an 'Urban', but wanted to see if anyone else has explored around here.

Closest I came was when I walked 'cross-country' from Macquarie Park train station to Hercs' Pillars. Only about 1-2kms, but it took hours, we thought it was a short-cut! :)

The Centre piece of the M2 Bushland area is by far the Flood Retention basin. its at least 30 meters high with a causeway across a drainage tunnel through the bottom conner and a 45 degree wall.

i have specifics down to the google map location and bus routes FFS!

ill post photos next time I'm there but was my first in Urban Exploration.

theres 3 or 4 fantastic sets of cliffs not far that have an amazing view, water pipes that span a gorge and what was a lovely bush walking track before development, theres a BMX/Mountain bike track carved through it and a stream with many banks and sand bars. Its actually quite beautiful in there

pack a picnic and your walking shoes its a fantastic piece or urban exploration/bush walking

PM for specifics

This is the flood basin, accessible to the public. Helpful tip, venture off the beaten paths into the "no go" zones and you may find something more interesting.

Went and had a look at this one today. Pretty easy to get to, but not exactly standing out in the open either. A nice little Suburban Odditty.

I actually worked on the M2 upgrade for the past 2 years and surprisingly never came across that enormous basin!? To be honest I'd never even heard of it until just then!

But yes, walking along the back of the noise walls is a lot of fun, a lot of cool graffiti and waterfalls etc. Beware of snakes though!

theres a few drains on the main side, all sewer. i don't recommend even lifting the lid!

but the north rocks golf course has massive problems with water retention and storm water damage early 2000's they remodelled removing an existing single big sump style drainage system and replaced it with a network of drains, all are shrinkers but you get excited just around the par 3 water hole, behind that is a local hangout known as the platform further down are a series of waterfalls which are pretty in a flood.

definitely recommend going down during flood times with a bodyboard the local park becomes are solid river!

a kid did drown doing it so we stopped cause well, I'm not dying! but well worth a return

I went and checked this out the other day, pretty cool structure! Very weird strolling through the bush and coming across it! I found an abandoned factory nearby but backed my car into a f-cking pole in the process of investigating it so I gave up and went home :(
