Hey guys,
Firstly: hope ya enjoy the tour tomorrow!
Just found out I have to do some work in Newcastle, and will be there for most of next week.
It would be much appreciated if anyone situated there could show me around any nice UE spots if you have the time, or simply hint to any interesting locations for me to check out.
Either way, I'll be out and about in the afternoons.

For sure. I was in Sydney about a month ago, but had no time to do anything exciting. Just a quick walk aroung the fort at Bare Island.
Drains in Newy don't seem too exciting :(
I'll have a quick peek though!
Have been researching a few other sites around the place including a couple of old forts, a bridge room, and the country's first rail tunnels (though reports say they were sealed off back in the 40's?).
Hopefully have some nice pics up a week from now.
Cheers.
I'v heard Vales Point 'A' Power station has recently started being demolished, it's a bit of a drive but could be worth a look, it's the one with the green turbine hall and 2 chimneys. Wangi Wangi has an old power station too but i'v heard theres sensors there now and some german sepherds that live in the boiler house. Also, there used to be an old fertiliser plant in Boolaroo, next to where the old lead smelter was, not sure if it's still there, had some interesting large timber frame sheds....
Not sure what's left at Catherine Hill bay mine these days...
Thanks Bangers. Sounds interesting.
Though the sites might be a bit out of my way.
Am working and staying near the port area and won't have a lot of time for recreation
Cheers anyways!
I thought most power stations have strict security so don't think it's worth going to Vales as you'd get caught as soon as you climb over the fence.
I walked around some of the closed Wangi Wangi power station a few months ago. The whole perimeter is fenced with barbed wire and also barb wire at the bottom so you can't crawl under the fence. Any breaks also get patched really quickly. That's real strict for an abandoned building. But it's really there to deter copper thieves
Here's a link of an article describing the security measures. Talks also about lasers, hidden cameras and silent alarms!
I'd be interested to know if anyone else knows of any places around or in Newcastle too. The bunkers up at Shepards Hill are nice and most of the time the bars have been torn off the building making it easy to get in.
I've also wanted to get into the Fort Wallace site at Stockton but I'm not sure if there are security at the site... again tried to go through the legal way but of course denied...
Yea there where copper thieves trying to pull it up from Wangi power station, thus the security, I have also heard of dogs being there too...
There is also the place behind the Rock Shop on Hunter Street though I'd be a little cautious as there are some bad people floating around Newcastle these days...
There are also two houses that have been boarded up on Industrial drive near the train station but it would be pretty difficult as it would be very easy getting spotted..
They have blocked off that bunker and welded it shut d: but thank you for the video!
The other side of that they dropped into unfortunately has been locked again, hoping someone may force it open so I don't have to drop down from how they went in as it is near next to impossible to get back out.
There is only one Fort these days that I am particularly aware of that you may be able to get access to and that is the Fort Tomaree site at Shoal Bay.
The first bunker is not welded shut like most of the other bunkers these days...
I'm hoping or wanting to try and gain access to the Fort Wallace sight in Stockton but still unsure.
There is still quite a bit of accessible abandos in newie, just gotta know where to look and how to get in, as everything gets boarded up pretty quick round this town these days.
As for bunkers, the ones at the breakwall have been renovated and locked tight since I was in there years ago, has a rusty ladder going down below ground which I think they've plugged up. Though someone has obviously been playing with the locks to try and get in.
The big one at shepards hill is open at the moment, only one section is accessible though.
The light box / signal tower in king Edward park has an engine room I never knew about til recently under a Norfolk Island pine under the old bowlo site. It is accessible but empty - though there is supposed to be a tunnel connecting the two, I think it's filled in.
The outpost under strezlecki was open a few weeks back and can get a fair way in. Found an article stating there is also a tunnel for this under memorial drive to an engine room that is now in someone's backyard.
The outpost further down toward Susan Gilmore beach is also apparently open at the moment, but wet weather makes it a treacherous climb.

There is another bunker past the Rescue club behind the houses to the right of it, if you start to walk down there there is a little path and going down a hill you will see it.
Someone has used a portable angle grinder and opened the metal sheeting on the door.
I get why the concil is locking them up, when they weren't I went through one and there was just rubbish everywhere... Just sucks we can't go through them anymore haha.
Dunno if its too far away from Newcastle but there is a new abandonment at Anna Bay, a sereies of shops near the beach where meant to be completed but the funding got cut half way through. It has a temporary fence around it but unsure about security.
