Best I could find:
Pro Optic/Samyang/Rokinon/Bower 14mm f/2.8
Don't really care for fast apertures especially at that focal length. I mainly want it (not sure about actually needing any of this stuffmpi wrote:Looks alright, though I'm always wary of anything not of the Canon/Nikon/Sigma branding. Sounds a bit brand whore-ish but 'Samyang' sounds super dodgy. I did a quick review search and this was one of the results "Optically the worst 14mm FX lens sold today, but much better than nothing at all".
I'm in the same boat with gear, a la poor ass student. However I make do until I can fork out some solid dollars for great equipment rather than buy cheap stuff that might break in a few months etc.
It also depends on waht you need. Do you need an aperture that fast? For a few hundred bucks more, you could get something like the Canon-EF-S-10-22mm-f-3.5-4.5. It's a bit slower, but a wider angle.
I hope this helps!
tl:dr
Be wary of cheap camera gear!
Well that 10mm would give a pretty sick wide angleMidget wrote:

I looked at some filters, and they're pretty horrible.mpi wrote:Well that 10mm would give a pretty sick wide angleMidget wrote:

It's around 700 buck I think... a little pricey but if you can hold off for a while, I highly recommend making do with your current gear til you can get something awesome.
If you're desperate for some superwide angles and aren't too worried about the image quality, get one of those cheapo fish eye lens filters. My mate has one and it's pretty cool though you would probably need some post processing to make it worth your while... they're only like $40 I think.
How much did you get it for?theedge wrote:Seems the Canon 10-22mm lens has gone down in price on the second hand market. I bought one 2nd hand and it's been fine so far (X fingers).
You happy with it? I'm thinking of picking one up soonish. Do you get much barrel distortion at 10mm? I'm ken on wide angle but not much into the distorted perspectives of fish eyes etc.theedge wrote:Seems the Canon 10-22mm lens has gone down in price on the second hand market. Same here. Most fish-eye shots give me a headache. Maybe 1 in every hundred looks fantastic.mpi wrote:I'm keen on wide angle but not much into the distorted perspectives of fish eyes etc.
Yeah, well I doubt I'll ever go full frame. I'd love to but the lenses are just waaaay too expensive.Midget wrote:Damn, EF-S. Although my camera has the EF-S mount, I still want to get EF lens as I plan to upgrade later... Hm...
True. But I'm becoming obsessed with photography.mpi wrote:Yeah, well I doubt I'll ever go full frame. I'd love to but the lenses are just waaaay too expensive.Midget wrote:Damn, EF-S. Although my camera has the EF-S mount, I still want to get EF lens as I plan to upgrade later... Hm...
