Question - Eastern Europe - Balkan Countries

Just wondering if anyone here has experience exploring in eastern Europe, specifically in the Balkan countries. Not sure what information I'm looking for. Just interested to know what, if any, the personal experience was regarding location abundance, quality and ease of access.

Obviously with the current pandemic I have no plans of going anywhere anytime soon however I have made substantial savings towards a prolonged European trip. For some reason I just feel more drawn to the eastern half. It feels less touristy, and I must admit I do enjoy reading into all the communist history which surrounds countries of the old Soviet Union.
Wander often. Wonder always.

was actually researching a trip to Georgia at the start of the year before the s*** hit the fan
as it is travel plans are indefinitely shelved, god knows if the world is any better in a year's time
and honestly...you're better off researching how to invest ur substantial savings now so u can sustain ur financial freedom into the foreseeable future...we all have to grow up sometime :(

...but back to ur query, i backpacked a bit of E.Euro n Balkans back in 2017 i think
they say EE is like SEA(south east asia), its generally pretty cheap and kinda loose, take that how you will, i did 2 euro trips, one for the west n one for the east, and the two are noticeably different! its definitely more of an adventure in the East! I didn't do as much urbex as i'd like but what i got to see was good, some stuff u can find on the net quite easily, others you can find just walking around(eg abandoned hotel, factories), common sense applies but generally people didnt care if u just jump a fence, they can see you're a tourist looking to take pics. i think one of the more interesting explores was a candy factory with all the candy still there!(i got f*** all to do so ill find some pics if you want)

but yeah i can definitely recommend the east, had a fun time in general, probs heaps of urbex if you mainly wanna focus on that, personally i loved Bosnia

pm if you want specific info but obvs dyor

Hey dude. First post here and sorry it's on a dead thread, but I did just want to give you some info on the situation in Greece. So I haven't drained over there but I have been to a lot of abandons and rooftops and truly they are everywhere. The police are a bit tougher because they assume you're up to no good but you can even find ways to climb atop buildings in parks in the inner suburbs. If you do try Athens then stay out of the far north especially at night as cops won't even answer calls there but there is bountiful spaces in Pangrati and the surrounding parks and suburbs.
The drain system in Greece is extremely old and I don’t think it is possible to explore as you cannot even flush toilet paper there because it blocks the ancient pipes (I could absolutely be wrong as I haven't checked with my own eyes so corrections are more than welcome). I was shown places by family members over there so I don't even know if there's a scene at all.

That's a full map with marked manholes of Patisia, another suburb of Athens just to give you an idea of the structure. Hope this helps and if you do ever end up trying Greece please check back and let me know how it went!
