Hey guys meand a mate are into exploring abandoned mines (not tourist stuff) we have climbing/rescue equip, air quality meters and breathing apparatuses. We have been in a number of mines in Sa. Lock pick, bolt cut, concrete saw.. however is needed we find the means. Although it is very time consuming finding locations i was wondering if many people have come across some that may seem challenging to enter :) we will give it a go!! Cheers
never die wondering ;)

Hehe, they were wide open when I was a kid living nearby.
There are quite a few well hidden entrances about the place that may still be open but we're talking a long time ago so they may be filled/caved in, overgrown or built over now.

Yeah, that one has a big hole at the end of it from memory.
I lived on Sherwood Tce.
I had a copy of this book in the 80's which we used to find the less well known entrances.

There has been a lot of development in the area since then so many may have been covered up.

Nothing sorry.
The book I had was circa 1981.
That link I posted is a much later journal article but has many of the images from it.

I know of an old airshaft for a (kinda) local (to me) disused mine. When dropping a GoPro down on some 80lb fishing line, we got it to 160 odd m before hitting water..road is rough as guts and then a bit of a hike on foot but it's worth it. Also know of 2 dams in the same area that are worth a look.

If your up for a bit of a drive there are several old mine tunnels and buildings just south of Palmer.
