Can't believe it's taken so long to finally find a local forum such as this, haha. I'm well aware of other forums and such, but nothing that was specific to Australia until now.
I've been interested in abandoned buildings and the like for some time now, but just haven't gotten around to actually going out and exploring. Mostly due to my lack of knowledge about locations, plus I don't want to make any stupid mistakes without the proper advice. So hopefully someone might be willing to help. 
I'm actually from Tasmania but have a second job in Melbourne, so would love to check out some abandonments and similar buildings around the Melbourne area when I can.
