My name is Tara and I am fairly new to the Urbex scene (well formally recognising it as Urbex anyway).
Why did I start/take an interest in Urbex?
Well ever since I was very young, I have loved architecture specifically old Georgian/Victorian/Edwardian buildings which I am passionate about because of their grand and decorative features and wonderful craftsmanship- something rarely seen today with the influx of new housing estates with G.j Gardener or Hotondo brick boring boxes (sorry if I offended anyone who loves these!) .
Also I have loved the eeriness and forlorness of derelict old buildings which I am torn between minds about- I love looking around them and how interesting it is and how it feels thinking about the history and sadness- but that also makes me feel selfish and I think it is terrible a piece of our history could be left to fall apart and be ruined by the elements and vandals. I really want them also to be restored and loved and look as grand as they once were. It is a difficult debate for me
I do enjoy it though..and although I haven't found much yet (as you can't readily look most up) I intend on doing more and hope I come across more in the future in my travels..(I found a great big old factory with equipment and stuff left inside and a old graffitied train carriage in its yard only yesterday, but unfortunately a workmen saw me about a km away and was waving me to go otherwise I would of explored inside the factory and taken more pictures for you guys, I also found a factory and restaurant that have been near me all along that I only just found as well..I keep saying I'll post the photos and I will soon..I promise..I have been super busy though!).
What sort of Urbex do I like?
I enjoy Abandoned buildings..specifically old but I'm not fussy. I would like to find some more types of abandonments..like
Theme parks, zoos, more intact houses, hospitals etc..
