Wow I wanna go there.
Like seriously how bad can the radiation be, I mean I won't just suddenly die cos I walked around this place for a few hours would I?
I would put money on it someone is secretly living somewhere in the radiation zone.
And to be honest I wouldn't even care if I died that place is like the heaven of urban explorers. Take me there now. I want it.
Wander often. Wonder always.

My boss has one and boy oh boy! cut his hand and arm like butter (gust of wind), specialist surgeons and 2months in special contraption to help severed tendons heal.
Apart from that they are awesome, unfortunately to fly in Aus legally it has to be line of sight, no video link flying, bloody spoilsport government!!
Would be so cool to fly in abando's, warehouses, oh the list is endless!!!

'Legally'. Since when did we really give 2 fucks about the law. Every time you set foot in a drain or on an abandoned places soil you are breaking the law. Bet 95% of the police force wouldn't give a f*** if you were flying it using a video link or not just so long as youre not flying over some secret military installation or some crap.
Wander often. Wonder always.

I'm sure people have started returning to live there or are already there, not sure how reliable this article is...

Is it considered a hostage situation if someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill themselves......

I put a "No Trespassing" sign on the fence. Now no one will enter.

It's accurate. There are a couple of hundred residents who refused to leave and there are also some tourist allocations (workers, facilities, accommodation).
You wouldn't die from a visit, nor would you have any immediate/serious health issues (it's like smoking a couple of packs of cigs; you likely won't get cancer from that).

Awesome man, are you allowed to go into all of the building/facilities, or are they mostly closed off due to instability of said structures?

Depends on your guide. Ours was very chill, sometimes he didn't even get out of the car. He actually said rules are there to be broken.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I thought all the tours there were really strict from what I've read about it. Staying in one location and only being able to see certain parts and all.

Apologies for delay, here's some pics.

Looking out from the city centre gymnasium.
Image

One of many long empty road shots I took.
Image

The name of every village lost in the incident. The reverse of these signs have inverted colours and a red line through them to indicate they're lost.
Image

A girl and her bear buddy.
Image

Obviously a stack of dorm style digs were seen too.
Image

One of the cooling towers with the cooling water in the foreground.
Image

The New Safe Confinement structure being built. The biggest moveable structure ever built so they say? The old s*** is falling apart big time.
Image

The NSC in the distance from a freezing rooftop.
Image

Of course these signs are everywhere.
Image

Another angle of the infamous ferris wheel, it actually ran for a couple of hours after the incident to try and keep some people busy prior to the announcement to get the f*** out.
Image

Play hard or go home, or something.
Image

I really miss my dogs when traveling so I get my fix from random Pripyat dogs.
Image

Looking straight up at the Duga-3 Over the Horizon Radar system. This thing is seriously big.
Image

More Duga.
Image

Way bigger than it looks.
Image

Much comfort.
Image

Another shot of the cooling tower.
Image

Operating theatre for kids.
Image

These tools were talking at Breakfast about how many "likes" they have had and will get. Then they played dress ups for their youtube likes. We walked past having a smoke. First rule on the list of rules...no smoking. Our guide was rad.
Image

Sinking ship...errrrm building.
Image

This is the supermarket.
Image

Rooftop view of Pripyat.
Image

Much sad face, sorry buddy.
Image

This claw was used in the clean up, by far the most alarming thing we saw with regards to our dosimeter. Well over 100 times more radiation than the surrounding areas.
Image

Stuffed.
Image

School instructional poster.
Image

In science class.
Image

The last thing we saw before leaving the zone.
Image

"Danger Zone"
Image

Trip out, snowing and freezing.

Really awesome pics. I'm definitely going to have to visit this place in the next couple of years... you'll have to give me the name of your tour guide :p

Nice shots

So want to go there now!

How long did you stay outside pripyat? Just need an idea of how much leave I would have to take.
Just a harmless explorer. No need to waste taxes checking me ;)

We were in Ukraine only for 6 days, we did a two day tour and stayed in the exclusion zone for the night. Many may scoff at the word tour, I do...but when dudes are walking around with automatic weapons it's kind of a no brainer.

They were scrapping it when I was there in 2013. Not sure if legitimate or not but there were guys with oxy torches pulling parts of it off,
Draper's the person to ask as to it's current status though...
