I'm Zebulon and abandonments is my game :)

Done a fair few over the years I've been active, including some that sadly are no longer with us, yet figured there is more to see than I know and only way is to research and ask.

No pictures as I've no camera and not a fan of leaving traces of where I've been.

Look forward to new urbex :D

I sometimes don't have a camera. And those have happened to have been times I really wished I had my camera.

Then again with so many other talented photographers out there I don't need to carry a camera. :)
But nothing pisses me off more during an expo than when somebody holds everybody up because they want to take 25 long-exposure pix of the same boring thing.

That, sadly is true.
I used to have a camera when I started out, yet it died, taking the images on it with it too :(
Not a good day and had to prioritise other stuff in front of an accessory/toy.

Of course, I'm open to donations :P (retired equipment to be clear, not cash)

I only take shots for documentary purposes, especially when a place has just been abandoned and before it gets hit by vandals or worse, demolished or fenced off with a big, bold and gay advertising banner designed by amateur graphic designers for a construction/property company.

But recently I've been moving away from taking my camera as it's becoming a bit of a hindrance. I've already done a few trips with just my cameraphone.

I see some of the equipment others take and I can only feel that it is a hindrance and weighs you down/limits your movement.

A small light tripod and a quality point and shoot with some manual override options is more than suffice for the majority of shots I've desired to take or took in the past.

it can be a real pain to carry gear, but to each their own, eh? I'll keep carrying the crap around. Carted 20kg of stuff up a steep granite hill (?) for some shots a few months ago, didn't use half of it but if i realised i wanted it when up the top, wasn't going back for anything.

Having said that, taking some people new to draining for an explore tonight, no camera, just a torch. will be a different feeling..

Ahuuh! Got you! I knew u werent keen when i was snapping away those bunkers, :p

I will agree however to some agree that the gear may slow you down and what not.
Hence why i like to go exploring with small groups and those who are all bringing cameras.

How it is for me personally with photography.... Its not to show off where i have been etc, but to capture the place in its current state and all of its details. By taking that little bit longer while exploring i get to really appreciate the aspects of that place, architecture, level of decay, trying to imagine what it looked like before abandonment etc etc :)

Running as fast as i can through as many abandonments as i can just to say i have been to X many places has never been my moto :)

Welcome. For me, it's urbex for the photography, therefore I always bring my camera unless I've been there many times. I admit when I don't bring my gear, it feels like I'm FREEEEEEE! Nothing to carry except a torch. <3
