Ah, righto.
Had a look at the site again.
A 10km round trip bushwalk. I'd do it!

The ozatwar blokes seem pretty friendly, maybe we can get some coordinates?

I've thought about contacting these guys as well, It would also be interesting to find out what else they may know about that isn't published on their site - would it be worthwhile sending them an invite to join with UEGA? at least then they'll know we're not a pack of vandals.

Yes Mr Dunn is very friendly and willingly shares information. Trioxide, myself and a few other irban explorers have shared info with him over the years. You can even be straight up and say you are an urban explorer and want to document a site and will give him photos if he can tell you how to get to / find such and such a place. There's a few photos from me and Trioxide on his web site.

Sadly I don't think I'll either not have that much time, or that much money to spend that much time overseas.

True. I've read and seen some of his explores and trips. Just wow. I love the one where they found a small abandoned house and lived there for a month.

He may be certifiably mad, but he also has an interesting outlook on things.

No progress as yet, though admittedly I haven't had a real red hot go at it. Just don't get the time these days. Maybe over the Christmas break I'll have some opportunity to have a decent look.

Sort of related but I remember seeing a plane in various stages of disrepair at the eadtern end of the airport, looked like it was used for fire training..but nearmaps not viewable unless you have a license now. ?

There is indeed.

I'd recommend that you read up on the implications of getting caught by the feds on airport property before thinking about attempting it.

Not exactly sure how to post photos but a friend of mine stumbled across an abandoned plane somewhere on a mountain in sunshine coast.

That's very interesting.
Any idea what kind of plane that is?
Looks quite unique.
