New explorer to the country, I'm keen to meet some fellow explorers, and see what's to do around Melbourne.

hey guys I just joined... hope I'm not too late... I'm new to this (been fascinated for ages, always wanted to get into it)

I'm into my photography... but would love to come to a meet (if it involves going underground! :) ) I'm not sure how regularly I'll check in here (as much as I can remember to) but if you think of a good meet hit me up oo.agar@gmail.com

Really looking forward to seeing some cool stuff...

EDIT: I'm in St Kilda by the way, so nice and central...

EDIT2: I only know of about tunnels in my vicinity... one of them apparently is really good (haven't been in yet) up near South Yarra and the other which I have been in is near my place off Grey St (haven't done a great deal of exploring in it yet but keen to, just need some kneepads or something for the low bits) so if you're stuck for places I guess they could be a start!

ANZAC is a bit of a quickie but perhaps a great place for a first meet... the one near me apparently ends up near caulfield but is a bit of a bore/squatter most of the way :P

There is a chance I might have to go back to sea sometime soon (not sure when, such is the nature of my job) but hopefully we can line something up before then

hey guys not sick anymore lol just have the sniffles, so if you guys are interested for something this weekend or Friday night, Anzac sounds like an alright place for first meet but remember "No DRAINS when it RAINS!", it has been a pretty crappy week so far with the weather, but maybe this weekend will be better.

Cast your votes now guys for a first melb meet:
So far we have:

1. ANZAC
2. a drain off grey street
3.
4.
5.

anymore interesting places in the city anyone know of?, also will update this post if any one comes up with some, just need a date and time.

Have you been past the Chamber? ANZAC is far from a quickie.

Assuming it's still there, would anyone be interested in a meet at Hotel California? I would love to check the joint out but I'm not too keen on going there on my own.

The drain off Grey Street is St Kilda Darkie. It is quite a respectable drain. Upstream it goes for miles, I mean miles! But yeah, it is a shrinker. Down stream though it is a big beautiful red brick and concrete affair with a deep tidal entrance. I recall exploring it one time when a big pile of dirty black water poured down it on a sunny day. In among the crap in the water was a dead Christmas tree complete with tinsel.
Another time my mate and I parked to go to the drain and a local prostitute came by to check us out. I think she realised we were not potential customers when we started to open one of the manholes.

Anzac beyond the chamber has two wide but low passages that meet up in about 100 metres. The concrete rectangular tunnel comes to a 3 way split after maybe 400 metres. The round red brick tunnel to the left has 2 exits, the furtherest one being in a quiet lane way. The little RCP has no exits except for one under a busy road and the straight ahead capped bluestone canal has a small water steps (nice) and 2 exits on quiet roads. However, quiet being only quiet at night. I would not pop those manholes during the day. I once popped it to find a car above it which then drove out of the way. That was freaky.
