Slip the security guard a $50 and shout him a beer to "look the other way" when you jump in.

We went and checked out Redfern Tunnels tonight, was way too risky to get in. That station is busy even at 10om on a Saturday night, and there was trackwork right next to it.

did you see them working on the tunnel all the way too the far right (opposite the tunnel you were trying to get in to)
i dont understand why youd need to work on it if its disused?

I don't think that one is disused. It's one I've always been eyeing off but I think it has a higher risk of making you into human soup than some of the others...

The tunnel on the western side which passes under platform 1 at Redfern is called the Engine Dive (link with below). It is used regularly to bring NSW Trains Explorers an Indian Pacific locos from the service centre on the eastern side to the country trains platforms (1-4) at Sydney Terminal (Central). The chimneys on platform 1 and south of it are for that tunnel. It is wired and some interurban electric trains (G and V sets) also use that tunnel.

Helps being an old skool gunzel. :) I love train tunnels and bunkers. I only like old drains for their history.

Either way, getting into SJ these days is hit and miss, you might get caught or you might not. They monitor the cameras now.
No idea Blakjak Just what kids have told me
i also heard there was a staircase that descended from near the botanical gardens near Shakespeare place
apparently it went into some sort of service tunnels that led to the other side of st James lake?
Bull crap Obviously but it just goes to show kids imaginations these days
aussiemacka wrote:What I'm really interested in is whether St. James is still accessible after some kids ran out of them at peak hour recently.
Only way to find out is to do it yourself, do your homework, and if you aren't confident don't take the risk. Doing them in peak hour is a stupid idea as circular quay station can clearly see the portal! The shaft is still visible as blakjak said, it's fairly large. The circular quay end of the lake has a a very high sandstone wall, an old ladder leading to the top. At the top there's a smallish cavity But certainly nothing too spectacular!

the domain tunnel is actually called Martin Place turnback, and is used by trains that terminate at Martin place station.

Domain or as you called it Martin Place Turnback is indeed a "termo" and is a hotspot for graffiti vandals since the trains are stopped underground.

Wouldn't exactly call it a hotspot for vandals. It's become a hotspot for 15 year old kids and their tripods..

Whenever there's a train parked at the Domain tunnel there's always a seccer watching over it. Gone are the dayus when you could sneak in there and play around. They also have cameras on the portal.

Every time someone gets arrested, security + 1%. :(

This Liberal state govt is taking all the fun away, they are pretty serious with security.
There were times when cameras were only in certain spots which they didn't monitor anyway. Now there are cams at almost every entry point and are monitored 24/7.
I guess having every wannabee Indian Jones thrashing the good locations has forced their hand.
