No im not asking for locations, im just seeking some knowledge. Ive been into photography for the past year or so and was interested in roofs. I wanted to know the consequences and some tips. Firstly, whats the likely outcome if im caught trespassing on a roof, (not breaking and entering) and also the worst possible outcome. Is it likely to just get away with a slap on the wrist if your nice about it and explain what you were doing? Secondly, was hoping to get some advice, are roofs that hard to get into? Are roof access doors generally locked and are there alarms in most buildings?
Thanks for the help in advance

Hmm, good and thoughtful first post.

It is a case of depends. Worst possible case will be a criminal conviction and fine for trespass. Your probably won't get a custodial sentence. That's if the police are involved.
Now I figure you could minimalize police involvement if you have a good excuse for being there. If it is a hotel and you are a guest you could pretend you were bored and looking around / drunk and looking for the toilet / lost and want them to show you back to your room / just stumbled on to it and thought you'd take a photo and leave / have you seen my partner? I can't find them / I thought it would be cool to watch the sunrise - sunset.

Other roofs, yeah more harder to come up with a legit sounding excuse. I guess you try your luck and be real polite if they catch you. If doors are locked, don't force them. If unlocked, well you were just lost / any excuse above.

It goes without saying, don't do stupid stuff that will put you or others at risk. Just don't.
