For the uneducated among us. let me translate this:

Hello "cool sounding word for people I have never met", my name is "Some cool sounding name that sounds a little trendy and posh" I'm a "another person who has no real link or interest in UE other than making money from it" I want to "make money" blah blah "some crap I hope you buy about preserving locations."
I live in Brisvegas and "ALL YOUR LOCATION BELONG TO US!, especially the fabric factory" can someone "Take me to the location at once."
What's in it for you? Nothing.
"Cool sounding name. Happy face so you think I'm harmless and will give me the information I desperately want."

I swear we had a post like this last month, perhaps with a different cool sounding name but I'm sure I saw "capture history so it can be preserved for future generations to view" before. Nope, a search proves me wrong.

Maybe we need a media FAQ? It would go like this:
Q. Hi I'm from the media. Can you show me a location?
A. What's in it for us?

Q.Nothing.
A. Then no.

PS. I think we're already doing a rather fine job of preserving these locations for the future. If you think you can do a better job, please provide your CV and application addressing the following selection criteria:
1. What media have you already produced? Provide links to examples.
2. What credentials can you provide to prove that you are serious media and not some local graff kid? Silly named email adresses at hotmail, gmail or yahoo do not apply.
3. Explain exactly what you intend to do with the imagery you obtain, including who you plan to sell it to or any other profit you intend to make from it.
4. Detail how our assistance will make you money and be honest about it.
5. Explain exactly how your work will preserve the site.

Sorry, too many interactions with self interested media out to make money from the hobby.

Considering that you dont seem to have much exploring experience, the textile factories arent a good place to start with, they are really high security, and difficult to access, however if you still want to try them they are easy to find with a bit of research.

Hi Saffron, and my answer is No ! and just in case you didn't read that right NO!! Location scouts will ruin Urban Exploration!!!!
We are a community of like-minded individuals that do research, go out and look, and then, when we find somewhere of interest post it here for all to see! (if it's not too sensitive, after all, this is the internet, where graffers & location scouts try to get spots !)

Too many places are graffed/trashed and then either locked up like Fort Knox or demolished! either way it's removed from circulation !!!

Ok so I notice a very negative tone from everyone that is quite sad but I understand all your view points ....
There are so many questions to answer from all of you to be honest .... the only rational person was cedz than you for being rational and helpful .

So for the other comments The person who just said no I am sorry you are so closed minded .
the person who suggested a media question area great idea ....
Can I do a better job than I think you are all doing a nice job better is perspective isn't it ...... If you have personally won more than 17 international film festivals in three years and been recognised throughout the industry as one of the leading Australian Photojournalists like I am then nope I cant do better .
History is only good if you share it which you are not I see only photos on this site and a few other underground media streams ....
I am not here to have abuse .... I can provide cv etc but all the same I would need to seriously talk to a person who can help ....
Is this for money no.
I do non profit aid work across the planet how many of you can say the same ?
I have access to show your work like you dont ?
Obviously and sadly you don't want that so I am sorry for bothering any of you and I hope and hope your insular dreams come true .
Yep my name is cool thanks .
If any of you are serious and want to chat pm me .
Have A great night ...
and for the two people who are obvious childrens other than CEDZ I leave you with this

It's not only the matter of spots getting released and sooner trashed by teenagers and graffiti artists. Its namely the fact, we had to research and uncover information for ourselves to find the locations. By this, i am pretty much saying that no real urban explorer will share locations they have put the time and effort into finding. Some explorers spend months, even years finding locations, which they don't want to be released to anyone in the public. Google maps, and Google in general will help with your findings, a lot more than asking most fellow explorers will... 8-)

Let me translate again
saffron wrote:Ok so I notice a very realistic tone from a few people that is quite expected to a post by someone who asks for something but offers nothing and fails to really introduce themselves to the community.
I will ignore your valid questions .... something about cedz and me not spelling thank correctly .

So for the other comments The person who just said no I am really pissed off you didn't answer my question so I'll accuse you of being closed minded .
the person who suggested a media question area great idea .... but I'm still not going to answer any of your questions. Instead I'm going to make some general statements with no proof in an effort to take the moral higher ground.
Some really poorly phrased garbage about who's doing a better job. ......
Some invalidated statement about how better I am than you are, but with no proof at all .
A contradictory statement saying you don't share, only you do, on the web, on several sites I saw.
I can provide a CV, just not now, I mean I COULD HAVE POSTED IT HERE or a link to it, but decided to make petty comments instead. Because that might distract you from me not providing one iota of proof for a single thing I am writing. I want to speak to someone, but failed to follow your requests for any real information on me. Meaning I could still be a graffo kid from next door.
More silly unsubstantiated statements of how I'm better than you.
I assume none of you have ever publicly displayed your work because I'm better than you all. I say I have the abaility to display my work, but provide no proof of that.
A poorly concealed insult.
Some stupid suggestion that my name, and therefore I, am cool.
PLEASE, PLEASE, anyone, PM me.
Some insults
A quote so you think I'm smart.
Gee YoSafBridge, I told you how to establish your credibility with this community and you have missed the opportunity. No one's going to chat to you until you make the effort to establish some bonafides. We have no idea who you are. You could have posted links to your web site, to your previous work, to anything that proves you are legit but you chose not to. I'm pretty sure we would have started opening up to you eventually once we got to know you. But seriously, big noting yourself with no evidence and then insulting us? Then suggesting we're childish, have not exhibited our photos and don't do charity work? You have no idea about any of us here.

Now personally I think you've done your dash, but I'm thinking a way forward here would be to post the suggested above links to verify who you are and showcase your past work. Or, you can carry on making unsubstantiated statements while we collect the popcorn and salt and take a seat for the next round of amusement. Reputation means everything in this hobby, you need to improve yours before people will start talking to you.

Ok, we are secretive group yes! we realise that if our shots were to become public, most locations would be closed/locked down! Unlike you this is a hobby for us and we choose our audience, albeit small (this forum and Flickr).
Credit to you for your awards and recognition ! but some of us excel in other areas, Very rarely do the general public look on us a level headed ordinary people they may pass in the street. Their belief is one bestowed upon them by the media "irresponsible risk takers", the only true portrayal I have seen lately is the video accompanying Alan Walkers song "faded", which is of one individual sifting through the derelict sites looking for a home pictured in an old photograph. This satisfies my need as a hobby photography of capturing abandoned places with their eerieness, and then finding something that stirs the heart.

I never implied we are better than you, it's just we don't want the focus drawn to us, we don't seek notoriety from media/journo/tv or the like, if you make a living out of it good on you! but don't ruin what we have, which is a deminishing resource of abando's/buildings and local history. Eventually a jewel like the factory you requested will be gone for all !!

This! This is so well and concisely said. This is the essence of this whole conversation. Unless I have had the opportunity to get to know some one, get to know that their values align with mine, I'm not going to share info. You need to take the time to build that trust.

Damn Voodooz, WELL SAID. :D

Saffron's account removed as per his request.

Let this thread be a lesson to future "location scouts", I guess.
