Unconventional music venue.

Hi Everyone! I'm really excited to be a part of this group and i'm hoping you guys could possibly help me out!

I'm a musician in Brisbane about to release my debut EP in the beginning of 2016. The songs have taken me a couple of years to put together and i'm extremely proud of them. The music is quite ethereal. Think the likes of Bjork or Tori Amos.

I am looking for a beautiful unconventional venue where I can launch the EP. I know that council approval and insurance will be an issue but I am happy to look into this if I find a place that fits the aesthetic.

Sound will obviously be quite important, i've been looking at some abandoned buildings and am wondering if any of you have any suggestions? I would love to make the event a really memorable night. Thanks so much.

The easiest way would be to use Google or approach the council. Even if we give you a couple of locations, you may have problems contacting the owners. They are abandoned for a reason! Haha. Also you will run into OH&S issues with many sites as they have been left alone for a long time.

Thanks so much for the reply.

Yes, I am familiar with a lot of OH&S issues that come along with using spaces like this. However, I have worked through these kinds of issues in the past!

Contacting the owners is another issue entirely hmm...A lot to think about here.

Thanks!

I'd browse the previous Brisbane Open House buildings or similar. Sydney trains have been known to hire out certain spaces for movie filming, marketing events etc but I get the impression you have to name drop pretty hard. Alternatively you could just put on an illegal warehouse party like all the rave kids. Good luck.
