Hello all,

I'm a 20 year old music theatre student currently in Ballarat but commute through Melbourne regularly. I've found myself fascinated by the idea of exploring buildings and places that no longer have any human activity. It's something I've been looking into for several months now, especially from blogs and photos I've found online. Only recently have I decided I actively want to pursue this though. There seems to be greater interest online and the forums in drains so I'd like to look into them equally.
Ideally would like to meet other people with similar interests who are also perhaps relatively new to the hobby. So yeah, nice to meet you all in advance

Welcome mate,
Ballarat area has some great exploring potential of it's own if you do your research, there's some pretty old stuff around the whole goldfields areas, you'll find stuff without looking too hard.

Enjoy the hobby, but also be careful...........

A performer yes! Singing and acting and such.
Yep, most of the central area of Ballarat is actually several metres above the original ground level; I've no doubt there are places to explore. I imagine I would end up starting off in Melbourne though with areas previously discovered.

You've also got a wonderfully oldschool drain, when it's not raining, and there is no chance of rain, stop by the Safeway carpark and look for something that goes underground...

Pretty sure its Ballarat that has an abundance of bluestone ovoid shaped drains and "tonnes and tonnes of stuff to explore" based on a mate of mine.

Thanks guys, particularly Nick! Yes I was aware of some specific drains around that area that'd be a decent starting point. And wow those theatre shots look fantastic. That's definitely not Her Majesty's in the centre of town!
