Obviously these guys made a few fatal mistakes. They were just 2 kayakers having some fun when they saw a drain and thought "hey this looks cool, let's go in." If they'd checked the weather they would've seen the incoming rain. This is tragic but was very much avoidable. The woman's quote at the end of the story is quite true. Drains are dangerous but most danger can be avoided by following simple rules.
