Just woke up and found out i am getting chucked on a train to go to newcastle. So anyone know and good spots areound newcastle. If anyone lives there they can show me around and when they come to sydney i can show them around. Or if anyone has been there and knows and good drains or anything. I am going to be staying around the jesmond area. Pretty sure there is a canal next to the park which might lead to a drain. so will check that out.

Have a good look at google earth - following rivers and canals.
Also a google search with keywords like "Newcastle" "tunnel" "bunker" etc.

As with any location, Google is your best friend. A quick search will mostly reveal some information regarding areas, and whether it be old or recent is up to you to find out, and even walking around the area will reveal some locations that may be known or unknown, that is the thrill after all 
Jesmond is a s*** hole... You should go to south Newcastle beach or Hamilton.
