Battleship Island, Japan. Used to be a coal mining facility and closed down in 1974.

Poveglia, Italy. According to legend it was used to isolate plague victims and over 160,000 died on the island.

Waverly Hills Sanatorium, Louisville/Jefferson County, Kentucky. Sanatorium for TB Patients, apparently over 63,000 people passed away there.
