I don't know if you have heard, but they have begun constrcuction/excavation on a new line called the "north west". It could be interesting...

The ground breaking ceremony was today, will be a while before the TBMs start digging.
Still good potential though, 15kms of tunnels will be interesting.

Completion date is meant to be 2017.

In my life I have never seen a govt project completed on time or on budget. The Eastern Suburbs Railway being the worst of them. It was started in 1949 with a projcted completion date in 1955...in ended up opening in 1979, & even then they didn't complete it all as it was planned.

They begin cutting the tunnels next year. And the station caverns will be excavated from the surface down.
