Eys tunnel

Hi all,

I was at Almanda mine last weekend, and it seems that Eys tunnel is now permanently closed

It looks like a gate was installed with padlocks, and at a later date, the gate was completely welded shut.

I've also uploaded a few images I took back in 2003 when the tunnel was publicly accessible.

(Hopefully these links work, this is the first time that I've tried to post with images)

Looks like they've made a reasonably serious effort and discouraging entry hey. Looks like it would have been a fun place to check out.

Looks like you could just climb over it? Or is it just the angle of the photograph?

Looks like the pics turned out well - and that was 2003.

It's just the angle of the photo.
There's no way in without a grinder. However, I do wonder how deep the footings go...

Looks like a little snips through the mesh wouldn't be too hard, but it'd be obvious.
